Got my second Pfizer yesterday. A week overdue, probably due to the supply chain delays caused by the recent storms that hit the Eastern half of the country recently. The smaller vaccine outlets were given priority of the supply on hand, I got mine from a mass operation that was de-prioritized. But they seem to be catching up quite well this week.

The arm is fine this time, though I did feel sleepy and ready for bed awfully early yesterday.

I received step 1 of the Moderna route yesterday morning. By 10 pm last night I had a very good immune response, aching arm and 100.4 F fever. Temp back to normal today but still a little sore. Step 2 next month. Went through the VA (veteran) system where the tech I spoke with said they are vaccinating around 1500 every day. Very organized operation.

blue states are just pretenders. they had no plan, and enjoyed blaming trump.

now they have to actually do something, cause biden ain't gonna help, and they ain't gonna blame him.

    Watch the content here;).

We bleed a steady stream of blue over here and it seems an organized plan has developed:).

If the others can't figure it out, send the shots to the best coast and the mass vaccination sites we have out here can make short work of the supply(y).

I was about to say something like that. The blue states are generally more poorly managed, not that the red states are a whole lot better but on the whole they tend to get more done with lower taxes and more personal freedom.

For example, friends and family in some parts of the country are essentially under house arrest. Here, we pretty much go to work like always, although that isn't necessarily a pleasant experience. Traffic is about like it was before the panic. Speed limit here, btw is 50 mph.

Our initial online signup was absolutely stupid. It's better now that pharmacies are involved. This is the kind of thing they've been doing for ages. I can't figure out why governments thought they needed to reinvent the wheel.

I continue to be thankful to Kroger Supermarket chain, after hearing other states processes even more so.

Krogers offered free Covid 19 testing to all residents of our state.

It is also the primary staffing and scheduling of vaccine administration in our state although this is changing.

Their scheduling is a bit quirky but adequate.

Living in an economically poor state I am not sure what we would have done without Kroger, Toyota and many other great Corporate Partners in our state.

The mass vaccination sites in my area had a slow start, but seemed to be reaching high gear by the time I got my first on February 10. That location did 1600 that day, limited by their vaccine allocation, but hit some 3600-dose days the next week. And they had four sites running, when supply allowed. And now a fifth site for the J&J product. Each site uses just a single vaccine brand, helping avoid confusion.

SignUpGenius.com seems to handle their signup stampede quite well, with afternoon releases of appointment batches for the next day. When I was invited to sign up for the second dose (a week late, storm-related shipping delays pinched the supply), they allocated 1700 doses in 14 minutes. The preceding day's batch was filled in under 30 minutes (I don't know exactly, that was how long it took to notice the email invite, too late), while the following day's batch did not fill up. (No first doses allowed on these days reserved for second dose patients only).

Seattle starts a new mass vaccination site today, at the downtown football palace's exhibition hall. Starting with 2000-ish doses today, with a capacity goal of 22,000 per day. Supply allowing. But I don't know how they are doing their signups.

I don't know exactly how the number of does is being allocated, but the data does support the population-based allocation. The delivered dose number is roughly in the order of population by state.

    The population of the state:
Rank State July 2019 Estimate Percent of Total
    1 California 39,512,223 11.91%
    2 Texas 28,995,881 8.74%
    3 Florida 21,477,737 6.47%
    4 New York 19,453,561 5.86%
    5 Illinois 12,671,821 3.86%
    6 Pennsylvania 12,801,989 3.82%
    7 Ohio 11,689,100 3.52%
    8 Georgia 10,617,423 3.20%
    9 North Carolina 10,488,084 3.16%
    10 Michigan 9,986,857 3.01%

    Vaccine doses delivered to date by state: https://www.kff.org/other/state-indicator/covid-19-vaccines-delivered-and-administered/?currentTimeframe=0&sortModel={"colId":"Total COVID-19 Vaccines Delivered","sort":"desc"}

The second shot is in but this one turned out to be slightly more difficult. More muscle aches and some trouble sleeping. There is a low grade fever with normal 98% O{2}.
