What did you do to ur Gen III Prius today????

    You can take that nut, and the stud, off, in advance, and leave both off. The stud I found tough to extract, due to difficult access, and I think dissimilar metals (steel stud and aluminum head). I was worried the E8 socket would round off the stud head, took it real slow. Not sure but I think with that lower stud off (and the top/front stud) you’re able to pull the cooler forward and out without removing the two rear connection studs.

    In @Ragingfit’s 4th gen engine transplant videos he ends up freespanning, from exhaust connection to the EGR pipe connection at intake manifold. They’re pinned in Prius v mod’s forum.

    Fantastic !! I will take time to go check this video , I ‘m planning to do this in the next two weeks, I want to change the engine and inverter coolant too , transmission fluid and spark plugs ... so I am taking every information that could be useful , and watching « nutz about bolts » videos.... thanks a lot for helping newcomers....

    1700 psi isn't enough to cut metal :whistle:.

    At least at 5 gpm, which is what most water hoses supply;).

    And you are moving the water stream around, not keeping it in one place for long(y).

    Today I cleaned the EGR pipe , mostly to check if it’s clogged or just dirty. Good news , a bit dirty , put some oxy in it , brushed it and « voilà « !! My Prius is almost 100k miles , so maybe my driving style or the fact that my oil is always clean due to oil change at 6k miles is helping .... Still planning to clean up the EGR valve and cooler, just waiting for the sun :whistle:.... took me 30 minutes , worst part was to take the pictures ...

    Don’t forget: intake manifold too. Pay special attention to the small passages exiting the sidewalls of each intake port; those are the final leg of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation flow on way to combustion chambers.
    You might even start with the intake; it’s relatively easy. Again, watch the @NutzAboutBolts video, links and torque values:

    PriusWindowTint07.jpg PriusWindowTint04A.jpg PriusWindowTint02.jpg I tinted the door windows Friday. Sunday did the rear deck window, in a garage.
    This morning I did the 4 small windows. They were the easiest of course.
    I did didn't want to spend $250 to have them tinted. I paid $28 for precut tint off ebay.
    You definate want to do it in a garage, out of the wind! When I started one of the back windows,
    there wasn't any wind. When I finished, a breeze started. When I finished the other back window,
    a heavier breeze. As I was doing the drivers window, the wind picked up. By the time I
    started the passager front window it was blowing pretty hard. It was a little tricky to get the plastic
    off the tint and the tint on the window with the wind, but it actually went fairly easy.
    NOT a perfect job, but for $220 less, it's good enough!
    I used 42%.

    Been thinking about those low cost diy tint myself. Yours turned very out nice.

    Thanks! You DO want to be OUT of the wind, and sun though.
    And clean the windows with a razor blade after washing them.
    I used Gila window tint solution left over from tinting my friends sliding glass doors.
    Don't forget to clean the glass UNDER the rubber slides, on the door panels. Use an old
    credit card or gift card to get down under there. I didn't do that on the first window, and it
    took a long time and work to get the tint to stay down. I did the other ones and it was a lot easier.

    Here is the video I watched to do the rear deck/hatch window with the defroster lines.
    It worked very well. But, only time will tell if it starts peeling up. I'm hoping not! :)
    DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT LIFT THE TINT AFTER PUTING IT ON THE REAR DECK WINDOW!!!!
    I realized I was off just a little after I started to squeegie out some of the water. It wouldn't slide, so I peeled
    it back and adjusted it. BAD IDEA! I pulled up some of the defroster. :( It doesn't look like I peeled
    off all of it and I'm hoping there is enough to still have contact. Next time it fogs up I'll see if that line is bad.
    Just slide it around to adjust it BEFORE you start removing the water, to get it aligned on the window.
    And pull all the plastic trim off the back window. It was pretty easy to get to all the tint without having to
    fight the trim pieces.

    Added black suede to the headliner, and pillars after adding sound deadening matt and foam padding to the ceiling. Also sprayed expanding foam in the various cracks/holes in the roof. The nose from the roof rack, basket and LED light bar was way too loud! Next up is to add sound deadening to the floor under the seats and the doors.

    I have never posted in this thread, but within the last year or so I have done a few things:
    1. Tint
    2. Installed Tanabe springs, Prius Plus RSB, and Cusco front tower bar @HybridPit
    3. Picked up some Rays SuperEcos in 17s off of here and wrapped in Yokohoma Avid Ascend GT 215/45
    4. Installed Valentis rear tail lights myself
    5. Installed C-West front spoiler along with OEM Ground Effects sides and rear myself.

    Next up, I will probably install a new radio (looking at the Sony XAV-AX1000) and maybe go to Prius Plus springs or get some Revel coilovers.
