Just picked up a new 2021 Prime Limited. MSRP was $35485. Dealer knocked $700 off of msrp and gave me $5000 in Toyota rebates so my price before taxes was $29,085. The dealer gave me $17,500 trade in for my 2017 Prime advanced (46k miles). I’ll be claiming another $7500 in state and fed tax credits so bottom line is $4085 (plus about $3500 sales tax and DMV fees)so $7585 out of pocket to pick up the new one. Seems pretty cheap to me.

Yeah I know about the 4502 federal rebate. I'm talking about the extra $1,000 point of sale incentive from Toyota.

Well, after 15,430 miles we traded in the car above...
for the same Prime - LE, blue magnetism, but a 2021 model - the numbers:

$28,220 -- 2021 Prime LE in Blue Magnetism
    $995 -- destination/delivery
$259 -- carpet floor mats and cargo liner*
    ______
    $29,474

    ($4000) Toyota Factory rebate/customer cash )$3k + $1k bonus for SoCal region
    ($1638) dealer discount
    ($900) CA Clean Fuel Reward
    ($750) Uber driver incentive
    +2920 TTL/fees/etc
($22,000) Trade-in for 2020 Prime - this is where the dealer made the deal for us
    $3,106 OTD price

    upcoming:
    $4502 Federal Tax credit
$250 CA rebate ? (need to pay back pro-rated amount of $1500 to receive $1000)

Net credit after future credits/rebates: $1,646 in our bank accounts to upgrade and finally have Android Auto =)
*we actually kept our 'old' all-weather mats and gave them the new carpet ones for the trade-in. We could have kept both, but would rather the carpet mats get used by a new owner of our 2020 than sit in our garage unused.

Congrats on making a profit on trading in 1-year-old 2020 PP for a brand new 2021 PP. The only problem is that you are going to have to wait for a full year to receive the fed tax credit. I sold my 2020 PP a few months ago for a net profit of ~$4000 after I receive this year's $4502 fed tax credit in a few weeks. I don't need a new car at this time, so to make the wait for the tax credit shorter, I am going to wait till Dec to shop for a new car likely to be PHEV (PP or others) or a full BEV.

Yes, the original purchase in 10/2019 gave a short window for the Federal Tax Credit to be received.
For this time, we might look into adjusting W-4 withholding for 2021 to recoup taxes sooner...

Bought a used 2017 prius prime premium last week for $15,939. Was coming off a lease of a Hyundai Elantra GT sport but not driving so much anymore so didn't want to keep leasing and wanted a used car that would last so went with a prius since it's so reliable, plus save money on gas and more safety features. Never even heard of the prime until I started looking for something different last month. Liked it a lot more than the regular prius I test drove last month and the 25mile ev range will take care of my average daily driving, for days where I just go to and from work will last me 2-3 days actually on a charge. Kind of gave up on a used prime actually before I found this one, most listed for $20k or more are not worth it since with the tax credit and incentives you might spend only a couple thousand more for a brand new one. But this hit the sweet spot for me and glad I found it, love the look of the car and driving it in ev mode is great. Have only used an 1/8th of a tank of gas after leaving the dealership.

Do you have the option of not paying back the pro rated amount and extending the ownership of the new car? If so, you'll have to do some calculations to see which is better.

I just bought a 2021 Prime Limited (my second Prius) and find I love the EV driving SO much I'm thinking I may want to sell and get an all electric vehicle. All depends on how much I would lose now vs 1 or 2 years down the road. Also, If I sell now will I still qualify for the 4500 Fed rebate at tax time? Just considering my options. Is there a "For Sale" section anywhere on the forum?

As for "Prices Paid" here is my info.
    OTD including tax = 33,456.
After Fed rebate should be 28,956
The extra dealer markup not itemized was for pin striping, door edge guards, wheel opening guards, and door side moldings.

    2021 Prius Prime LE.

$29,650. With $5,000 Toyota rebate it was $24,650. Suppose to get $4,500 back on next years Federal taxes, so finale price will be $20,150. Pretty good price for a really nice car.

I was seeing a lot of inventory there that I was liking ... thanks for sharing what you paid. I plan on being out there sometime late Spring and early Summer and might just have to drive one home to Nebraska.

It seems like, the $5000 rebate for 2021 Prius Prime, applicable only in selected states ?
In CA, they offer $3000 cash ( or 0% APR for finance) + 1000 Cash., so totally not more than $4000.

Is there any eligibility criteria in play get that $5000 rebate in CA?

Toyota manufacturer's incentives including cash back, low APR, lease programs are offered regionally. I believe, currently, only the Greater NY region is offering a $4000 +$1000 rebate. New England region now offers $4000 + $500 rebate. You will have to purchase a car at a dealer where the rebate is offered. If you read back this thread, you will find many who has traveled to both coasts where the higher rebates are offered and purchased a car out of their own state.

Anyone have any recommendations for a dealer in Southern California? The offers I'm getting are around $25k for an LE before Tax, tag, title and all that. Seems higher than most were getting in this thread.

Use the "see our best price" thingy - got an offer for $22.8k a couple weeks ago doing that. Add in $750 Uber incentive and it's hard to beat. The dealer discount on our purchase was $1638, FYI

Thanks I'll give it a shot. Did you actually buy? Not sure how they are on trying to add extras.

And how do you get uber discount?
