Combination Meter Replaced, Still Having an Issue

    Hello,
    I was having issues with my 06 Prius and diagnosed it as the combination meter. I replaced the combination meter and that fixed the issue of the dash not showing as well the car not turning off. But now, the car won't turn on unless I unplug the 12V and plug it back in. Then the car starts right up normally. This is after the battery is charged too. And the battery was replaced last year. Is there anything I am missing that could be replaced to get the car running normally?

    When you say the car doesn't turn on, do you mean the dash remains dark, or do you mean it will not go to "READY' condition?

    Just to clarify, your profile lists a 2013 Prius V.

    My WAG would be that you have a HV ground isolation fault, but knowing the OBD2 fault codes would be helpful.

    Do you have any warning lights displayed on the dash. This generally means there are OBD2 codes (DTCs) stored in the ECUs, find a toyota hybrid compatible OBD2 scanner and pull the codes so that you can post them here for additional guidance.

    Given that this might be a DTC P3009 or P0AA6, you will need a device that can read the subcodes / detailed codes (INFs) as well. I would recommend a 'mini-vci' cable (20 usd) and a copy of techstream (dealer technician software) installed on a windows device.

    Every time you disconnect the 12v source, it will clear or reset the codes, until they trigger and are stored again.
    Likely that you'll need to replace or repair your existing HV battery. How many miles on the vehicle, and do you park it in the sun?

    Thanks to you both. To clarify, the car is completely dead, with no lights on dash or anywhere at all (I can't even lock or unlock the doors) until I unplug and replug the 12V battery. Then it boots up as normal with no warning lights. The HV battery was replaced less then 100,000 miles ago so I was thinking it would be fine. Still think it's a HV ground isolation fault?
    My profile lists our main Prius (2013 V). This is a work vehicle I am trying to fix for my crew.

    If the car is completely dead, then this is not an HV battery issue. The 12v system is what boots up all the cars electronic systems. The HV battery supplies the inverter/transaxle and AC.

    The next time this happens, would you be able to check the under hood jump point to see if you have 12v available there? The (+) terminal of the 12v battery sends power through a 125A(?) fusible link installed on that black housing attached to it. The big cable that plugs into that black housing attaches to the underhood jump point. We need to find out where you're losing 12v. The possibility exists that you have a poor connection at the battery and disconnecting/attaching is just causing enough disturbance to make it work. Perhaps go throughall the connections in that area and verify.

    Hi volt fault from whacker battery is my guess.

    It amazing how many people have bought an after market whacker battery without going on the cars forum and snoop around about it before they spend alot of money. Man if I got to spend $50 I'm beating the internet up.

    They really get you with the BRAND NEW BATTERY baloney though.

    did you DIY the board repair or get a swap from texashybridbatteries?

    if you got a swap from thb, are you 100% grade a USDA certified sure that you put the good one into your dashboard and not accidentally the bad one? i ask because i almost did that. they look very similar
