I think since covid tanked gas prices and killed commutes there are a lot of unsold primes that dealers are trying to get rid of. If there is a lot in stock in your area there's a good chance you can get a big dealer discount.

Has anyone who purchased in Maryland recently gotten their tags? I live in NJ and bought a 2020 PP from a dealer in MD in October, but don't have tags yet. I've never bought a car out of state, so i have another question. Does the dealer first have to get a title from MD DMV before they can apply for my tags in the NJ DMV? Or do they only have to deal with the NJ DMV?

I think they only work with NJ DMV because they register the car based on state of your residency. You may need to call them to check what happen. I think NJ DMV is overload now. I renewed my registration online and I have been waiting for 3 months and the new registration card not came yet.

People with the deals in SoCal can you post up some dealer info? I'm ready to buy yesterday but am getting much higher prices than I see here.

I suggest emailing every dealer you could possibly buy from in your region. I sent mass emails out to about 15 dealers asking for their lowest OTD price and luckily one of them straight up offered a 3k dealer discount, unfortunately they were over an hour away. I then got a few local dealers to match it and the subsequent bidding war brought the selling price below 22.5k. Email them all even if they don't have the specific color/package you want or if they really far away. You only need a quote for an equivalent trim level that you can price match somewhere else.

If your initial wave of emails doesn't bring a good price I would suggest just asking for a 2 or 3k discount once you've established contact with a salesperson.

In my opinion Truecar is a good starting point, but if you do your due diligence as mentioned above you can do much better. I mailed the 10 closest dealerships to me and let it play out from there. The nearest two dealerships wouldn’t touch the offer I received from a dealership 40 miles away so I took a mini road trip to save an extra $1k. Well worth the additional 1.5 hour round trip travel time. Throw enough baited hooks in the water and a really hungry fish will eventually bite.

I bought a white 2021 prime LE for 20K flat before taxes. This was with 6850 in rebates (toyota 5K, NYS 1100, Uber 750) and then 2700 dealer discount. This is in NY in January

would you share which dealer for the $2700 discount? I'm NYC but see only $300 to max $500 dealer discount for the XLEs. $2700 is a Wow.

Wow, that's an incredible price. After fed tax credit, it will be a $15.5K price tag. But I thought Toyota rebate in NY was and still is $4000. How did you get a $5K rebate?

OK, I see the separate $1K cash offer. Good to know. It pays to borrow money.

I just checked their online offers dealer discount is $500. So call the saleperson we can negotiate for $2700 off? That's incredible. Any special negotiation technique? Is the car in low mileage perfect condition? Thanks.

Just call and ask to talk to Greg and tell him you're a friend of Gregory that bought a Prime LE last month and see if he can sell you an XLE for $2700 dealer discount as well. :)

So I'd have to finance to get a $1k additional? Any specific amount I'd have to finance and could I pay it off almost immediately?
