What is the best product or way to fix this. I know the steering wheel is not leather. I’ve dried a hair dryer to no effect. Is there a product anyone can recommend? Thanks much!
I wrapped the plastic steering wheel on my Prius v 8 years ago and never looked back. It is as close to OEM quality as you can get. It is as good as the day I put it on. The only issue is that doing it right took more than two hours and a lot of patience.
Thank you but my steering wheel is heated and I’d hate to lose that functionality is there any other options I see some kids at AutoZone that repair leather etc. has anyone had any luck with those?
Ok got a new steering wheel! Now is there a wrap anyone knows that allows the heated steering wheel to still work?
I didn’t even know I had a heated steering wheel! But while we are speaking of that area.... I like the horn to tap easily and use it often for signaling pedestrians. It used to be that the horn ring came off easily and adjustment was quite easy. This is my 4th Prius and I am always fearful of loosening, pulling or prying anything on these plastic cars. Does that horncover pull off easily and is there an adjustment underneath. I have applied mild pressure but nothing happens. TY
If you still have the Base Model, you don't have a heated steering wheel. Neither do I. As for the horn, I can't say for sure. But I have had that stuff off on a Gen 2 to replace the clockspring. It required removing some trim and some screws to get it off. I didn't notice any adjustment. But then, the Gen 4 could be very different.
From the photo I do not see a bubble, I see a cut. If a bubble, the needle and glue IMO is the best repair attempt. If a cut, the are leather bonding kits that you maybe able to blend in. A heat gun will be a tool asset for both repair attempts. Depending on your OCD , a replacement steering wheel maybe the only superior fix. And FWIW, drive naked, remove rings or wear gloves... half serious comment Good luck wished.
