Maybe oil filter canister O-ring jumped the groove? Or missing?

have not reached the oil change mark yet since last time. when i do replace oil i will check if the oil is still leaking.
Right now my issues are the hybrid battery started giving error more frequently now about within 100 to 200 mile driving distance i get error and i keep clearing it and keep on driving, still cannot come to terms with spending $1200 to replace hybrid battery in this 241k miles prius. Also was thinking about replacing shocks since now it feels like im riding a bicycle lol, 241k miles on original suspension. I am waiting for my new tundra ordered 2 months ago and still have no word on when i will get it, if it will take any loinger i might just pull the trigger on battery and suspension on prius, otherwise my attention will divert to new truck and prius will be just grocery getter from that point on.

The prolong charger/discharger is 1/2 the price.

I dont know if i want to spend $700+ dollars just to recondition battery just to find out it has already some bad cells and cannot be restored and go back to yet buying remanufactured battery after all.

edit: or am i missing something?

If you read info about it, it can revive the weaker cells. And give you more life out of it.
And can make it like a new battery.
    Just another option.

After looking into more in prolong charger thing, doesnt feel confident that i still wouldnt have to even spend more time and money sooner since they claim that if you start reconditioning early on then you can prolong the battery but if you are already at stage where im at where i am having triangle of death for past 20k+ miles the damage has probably already been done and i wont be able to prolong this battery for too long even after reconditioning. Whereas my cost to replace at shop near me is $1178 otd and one year warrenty but they claim u can easily get 2 to 2.5 years out of it which seems more easier and reliable route to me since it will take 2+ years to come back where i am at now. I really dont want to put the effort and labor of replacing cells on my own because i know it will be lengthy process for me to track down bad cell and then replace them charging calibrating and all that fiasco

Correct, the Prolong product lineup wouldn't be able to help your failed HV battery. It would be best if you installed a new OEM battery, many dealers sell them over the counter and you can DIY install or find someone to do it for you.

Before having a used HV battery installed (not recommended), please shop around for a higher quality used product at a better price point, which includes free installation, free HV fan cleaning, better customer support, and a real warranty (if needed).

    Try: Texas Prius Battery Replacement

    or

Try: Hybrid Car Battery Repair & Replacement | Hometown Hybrids
If you plan on not using the vehicle for a couple of years, then best to not replace the HV battery until you return.

Thanks for the links, one of them dont offer 3rd gen and other one is $1595 as compared to one i found for $1178 ish.
I would pove to explore more options but looks like there arent too many when it comes to price.
Greentec auto here in dallas area offers lowest and theor google reviews are very good as well.

I had a rod bend like that in one of my priuses after the water pump went out and the car overheated. Looks like the same thing happened.

Are you replacing the water pump too?

High heat from a failed water pump.

I've recently seen a video of that, and yes very amazing. FWIW Gasket Masters use an other FIPG product, with a much more leisurely cure time, and it works for them.

I started a thread linking that video, and one other, was going to link it, but it appears GM's have removed the video. Not sure why they would do that. I believe I noted the product in a text file, can check on that tomorrow. AND I've downloaded their video to my hard drive, anticipating this eventuality, so maybe I'll post a screen grab if I can find a good still frame.

I believe it's Permatex UltraBlack. Will check tomorrow.

Also heard mention of Permatex Right Stuff.

@ChapmanF , here is a screen grab from my downloaded Gasket Master's video. Again, they appear to have taken this video down, not sure why, and it's a shame, it's a very informative video. Anyway, they're using Permatex Ultra Black. From 25:52:

    upload_2020-12-10_6-42-50.png
(@Tideland Prius I would hope the above screen-grab is not copyright infringement. If it is please delete. I would link the video, but it's been taken down.)

In the instruction Tab of the following link, they note to not use it on head gaskets, or wherever gasoline could be present. I believe the Repair manual calls for localized dabs of gasket maker at the junction of head gasket and timing chain cover??

Permatex® Ultra Black® Maximum Oil Resistance RTV Silicone Gasket Maker – Permatex

Still, considering they're a business, I don't think they'd want to use a product that would "come back" on them.
