Lots of explanations for the dead batt. ......BUT, IMHO no excuse for the car not being ready for delivery, & on time......handing over $25,000 is a BIG deal for me, .......you only get one chance to make a first impression......again, YMMV

There may be an updated version (attached is from 2006), but an honest dealer (I know, I know...) should have performed this procedure, along with all other Pre-Delivery requirements.

Thanks for that. Still, it is insanely overbearing, there should be a Coles Notes version. Something like:

    1. Disconnect neg lead for all cars sitting on the lot.
    2. Do a full charge session with appropriate smart charger at least every 14 days.
    3. When prepping for buyer, test battery with electronic load tester and replace it fails (CCA below spec for example).

#3 would maybe motivate them to do #1 and #2.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure our 2010 sat for 15 months, completely unattended. And the STILL tried to palm it off on us with the original battery. This is Open Road Toyota Port Moody.

If neg cable is disconnected, charging every 90 days might be more appropriate; parasitic drain would be near nil.

Just my $. 02 I'm not sure about prius but new nissans come with what's called an "enhanced flooded battery" or EFB. Any of these that have died on the lot do NOT recover. You end up with all kinds of battery issues and a battery tester will just say recharge. It'll never fail the battery allowing warranty to replace it.
