If you say so. Glad we still have choices in this world.

Choices, but your choices don't change the facts.

Neither does yours. Tesla is only one choice and there are many choices coming. Can’t wait to see it happen.

Thanks for sharing a sentiment made over the years. Might be hurt if was partisan to any manufacturer. Alas, not.

Many things come to an end, but the anti-Tesla crowd already lost and that can't be un-lost regardless of the future.

Ah but my refill takes 2 minutes for 400 plus miles and is available almost everywhere just off my routes, my vehicle costs $20k less, carries more and I don't have to put in any refill capability in my house. Now tell me why I should switch and overcome all my selfish instincts. EV versus fuel cell arguments won't get the masses.

Totally agree, but it’s gonna come to point that we will not be able to buy and ICE vehicle and BeV or FCEV will be the only choices.

Tesla has had no competition. That is changing and many folks still buy by status and Tesla has no real status other than being an EV.

I have when a hurricane took out a bridge on I-95 around the NC and SC border. Coming back from DisneyWorld, everyone had to make a several hour detour and gas was in short supply. So were bathrooms. Those of us who keep half tanks were the lucky ones.

There are always going to be edge cases.

What status or history does Tesla have? You can’t compare to Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar. These are legacy companies that when you buy from you are buying into a family with established racing history and pedigree.

Last two posts have nothing to do with the discussed topic. Simply continued evasion.

I completely agree that there will always be edge cases. I’m simply saying I am not going to be making buying decisions based on someone else’s edge cases. If I were, I would be buying cars with bulletproof glass.

Use Plugshare and map L2 routes. My Std Rng Plus Model 3 adds 30-32 miles each hour on an L2 charger. Recline seats or fold down the rear seats and camp-out in the car.

    I don't intend to get a Tesla when I get a BEV.

My friends and family mostly drive for trips. I don't like dealing with airports, and one time we did fly to my parents, we would have gotten there quicker if we drove. Then airfare gets pricey with kids.

My commute is 300 miles a week. With time off, that's 48 weeks of driving. Gas stations are right on my route, so 5 minutes to gas up once a week. At the end of the year, that is 4 hours spent getting fuel.

If a Mirai could work here, its short tank range would mean stopping more often. So probably 6 hours a year, or more.

Says someone who has never had to fill up when it was below freezing out.

Look, another hydrogen promise for in the next 10 years.

Sandy had knocked out power for over a week in some areas around here. Many of the gas stations in those parts didn't have back up generators.

    Tesla might have better reliability.

Independent tear down and analysis of BEVs has shown Tesla has an engineering advantage for BEV components compared to others. Their motors light and powerful while being lower cost. The others have more experience with ICEs, but if they had any experience with BEVs, it could have been a hundred years ago.

Also, I thought racing and performance wasn't important to car guys.

With no set date on when it will happen, maybe 2024. Meanwhile, BMW is in Formula E.

Neat that they will be including devices on the cars to capture brake dust. Bigger batteries or capacitors could mean less dust overall.

Can you transfer hydrogen from your Mirai to another?

I know that the Mirai has a PTD for powering a home in Japan, but that isn't unique to FCEVs there. The system was developed for use with plug ins. It requires the installation of a specialized charger at the home that can feed electricity from the BEV or PHEV to the house. There was plans of offering these chargers to Mirai owners here, but I haven't heard of it happening. When I checked the prices in yen about 5 years ago, they were about $8000 when converted, which was down from $10k.

Tesla quietly adds bidirectional charging capability for game-changing new features [Updated] - Electrek

The answer is there is hardware in the model 3 and model Y but software is not turned on. Only tesla knows if it works. I would expect that if it works and there is demand they will turn in on in an over the air update. The car comes with a cable to a 240 VAC outlet and many of us with solar have boxes on our houses to take that and feed the grid, but it would require a different cable to charge car to car.
