    hello
I am researching the size of window wipers I need to replace for my front which are 26" and 19"
the one that is throwing me off is the rear one- I read that it should be 16" or 16a - which is the accurate size for the reason wipers?

also should I just changed the blade or the whole wiper?

    thank you

I don't know the difference with the "a" added. Maybe the design?
But it's 16 inches. You only need to replace the blade.
You can to pull it in the center away from the arm so you can pull the blade out.
    Not too difficult...

It could be for French Canadians such as “nice looking car & great wheels-a”.

Thanks! Now it makes sense! :)

I just buy the least expensive 16 inch blade and remove the insert.

No, you don't have too. It depends on how much you want to spend.
It's not that much work at all...

If you still have the original wiper arms, the best deal I've found in my 50 years of driving is the blade inserts at Toyota. They're about $9 each and last at least three years. I still have the originals on my 2017 with 46,000 miles. Only reason I know the cost is from replacing the expensive auto parts store ones on previous Prii.

On my Prius v, my OEM blade lasted 8 years. I replaced it with this silicone blade. If one is available for the regular Prius, I'd get one and forget about it for at least 5 years.

I forget the details now, but I'm pretty sure that not all blades and inserts are interchangeable.

Update: Looking back at earlier posts (including my own) in other threads, I see that Toyota dealers are no longer selling the original blades for which replacement inserts were available. They now sell the "SightLine" wipers, which have to be replaced as a whole unit.

The original (except for the Toyota name, perhaps) Denso blades are available on Amazon, but the inserts did not last long. Inserts bought separately are fine in those Denso arms.

The rear wiper arm on MY 2010 Prius, is a standard wiper.
So, I bought a standard wiper attachment, and removed the blade.
And installed on the rear wiper arm. Been working good for over 3 years.
Pretty good for $3 or $4!

The wiper refills are the way to go, if you can get them. But, if you're ordering parts online, there is also a Denso rear wiper blade that is a direct fit for many Toyotas (this fits my 2010 Prius and 2018 Sienna): Denso rear blade, 160-5516. The metal wiper parts are recyclable as scrap metal.

I changed our OEM inserts (with same) around the nine year mark.

They didn't really need changing, judging from appearance, but I figured the rubber must be hardening up some.

Cool! I never found any that I liked. Seem like wipers were always more of an issue for me than I thought they should be.

I've bought all the major brands, and some that said they were better.
But they didn't really seem to work any better or longer then getting the least expensive
once. Or whatever was on sale.
I use Rain-X on my windshield so it doesn't really matter... at least not to me.

I just bought a used gen 3 and the previous owner foolishly replaced the OEM blades with some cheap BOSCH ones. I am trying to find OEM blades with no luck. By any chance do you know where I could get some? Or any other decent alternative? Thanks.

    Ask a dealership parts department.
