If I were in your shoes now I'd just email some of the dealers that have XLEs with light interiors (Prestige Ramsey, Toyota Hackensack, Hoselton in Rochester NY- they have 2, Toyota of Riverhead) and see what they'd be willing to for you to come in by tomorrow. My guess is that Hoselton would be the hungriest but I've never dealt with that dealer.

If you say that'd you'd be ok only discussing price over the phone so they know you won't just take their price and shop it to a closer dealer, that may help them know you're serious.
If you go on Lia of Wilbraham's site, put in some fake info to unlock their "express buy" prices, for XLE's I saw discounts of around $1650 - $599 doc fee. So I'd consider $1000 my baseline for a dealer discount when talking to dealers.
If you're happy with a dealer discount of $1000, and didn't want more I'm pretty sure you could get that from Toyota of Riverhead without much pushback(I was told they could do that verbally for an LE). They initially offered $500 off or something in that range, but when I told them I was getting $1000 from other dealers they said they could do that.

Thanks for replying. They actually can go lower and dip into their factory invoice cost, but your chances are reduced if you have a salesman because he wants a cut as well. They always have the holdback up their sleeve. At least you get a NY rebate. I don't get any of that as a Florida resident. All I get is free use of a speed lane almost a whole county away.

Any chance you can share the dealer name as I'd be interested. Thanks!

Thos dealer discounts out west are crazy high. But I notice the MSRP is as well. Thanks for replying.

    Thank you. Which dealership?

Thank you. There's a lot of meat in your email. I'll give them all a try.

I can't come in because I'm buying and signing from Florida and picking up in the NE Region or Greater NY Region. I just want to add that I've learned that Costco members have access to invoice pricing for the car as well as the extras. It's part of their contract. It does not appear like there is much to work off of if you are using Factory Invoice Pricing to the dealer as their base because they are cutting the cars to the bone. And there is no agreement on telling Costco customers what the dealer incentives and holdbacks are as far as I know. I would imagine the lion's share of dealer profits sits in those very holdbacks and incentives the dealers receive from the factory.

I'm going to use those dealerships to shop. May I ask how you knew those dealers' specific inventories? Internet search per dealership? Is there a way to search the specific dealer by the colors you want? I want to be able to keep up with the '21s, just in case.

Stevens Creek, SF Toyota and Capitol Toyota around the bay area were all around a few hundred dollars under $30k for the Limited when I got quotes last week. They seemed to be offering less discounts on the LEs and XLEs tho.

you can search the dealer's site. or you can use Toyota's inventory search. I believe toyota's reflects the inventory around a specific zipcode. You actually click on the car, but it wont tell you which dealer has it. but it gives you a good idea on how many cars of a specific trim or color is around your area.

Looked up Stevens Creek. Now here's a rare find. Brand new (I think) 2019 PP Advanced for sale. Factory 10-spoke alloy wheels to boot ! $899 option.

Got a 2020 Prime LE at the end of Sept in western NY:
    MSRP: 29,114
    Dealer discount - 1400
    rebate - 4500
    uber driver rebate -750
    NY State doc fee: 75
with temp tag I was out the door (excluding tax/reg) for around $22,600

Not as big a discount as the one I got in Dec '18 but the uber rebate helped to justify the purchase. Considering that so many dealers seem to have an excess of these compared to other models I'm curious to see what the discounts will be like closer to the end of the year.

Congrats! I also noticed that when the Toyota rebates goes up, the dealer discount goes down keeping the final price about the same. For my 2017 purchase, I had $3K Toyota rebate, but the dealer gave me $2600 discount. My my recent 2020 purchase, Toyota rebate was $3500, but the dealer gave me only $2K discount. Still, with other incentives, my final price on 2020 LE was over $1K less than what I paid for 2017 Premium model.

Yes. The regional search is zip code based. Actually, all the searches I've found are zip code based.

Thanks again to all contributors on this thread and forum.
I traded my 2017 Advanced (see post #1116) for an 2020 XLE.
The trade reason was the need of 3rd rear seat. Got tired of using wife's car to chauffeur kids. :)
Not sure how I did but here are my numbers for reference on remaining 2020 XLE inventory:

Model/color: 2020 Prius Prime XLE / Classic Silver
    MSRP: $31,913
Incentives: $4500 (MA Toyota) + $2600 (Dealer Discount)
    Selling price before TTL: $24,800
    OTD price: $6,300
    OTD included TTL/FEES $600 and MA Tax (6.25%) $360, Doc Fees $495
    Trade in: 20,000

The higher XLE MSRP is due to 15" 10-Spoke Alloy Wheels for $899 which I didn't care for but it was the last 2020 XLE on the lot.
So, yes, I have the unicorn wheels! ^_^
I suppose it's a side perk coming down from an Advanced to XLE.

Congrats! That's a great trade-in. After the $4500 fed credit, your cost would be less than $2K for a brand new car.

The only thing is that the form 8936 necessary to file the tax credit has been late coming for previous years. I had to wait 3-4 weeks for the form to be ready for my 2017 tax return. I hope the 2020 tax year is different, but I have a feeling that it will not be the highest priority for IRS to finish early.

Go to https://www.buyatoyota.com/ and put your zip in the right top corner. Then you can look up the offer for Prius Prime under Hybrid & Fuel Cell.
