So for those of you in rapt attention. I’ve ordered what seems like just about everything. Much of it may not be necessary but I’d rather replace what’s deep in there while I have it apart since everything is 227k miles old. The guy that sold it to me said “this car owes me nothing, as cheap as they are to operate.” This tells me he more than likely did as little as possible. I did find some oil change receipts so theoretically he did at least that and was a fanatical tire rotator. Anyway, now I sit by the mail box.
Gentlemen! Start your engines! Head gasket and everything worth replacing sling the way. Speaking of which...
Arg! I picked up a new water pump only to discover the pump that’s on the car is shiny and new! Now what???
always good to see the documentation. Was it purchased from Toyota? Usually the Aisin name is ground off of the pump . Good luck and hope everything works as planned.
where they got it I do t know, but the one that’s on it is identical to the new one so bought AND the factory unit is made by Austin. I’m secure with it.
Very first post........... "looking it over it had sat for many months, but after charging the 12v battery all day it fired up. Ran really rough at first but smoothed out perfect after 2-3 minutes. " Reading is fundamental........
Ok. So things are coming apart. I’m insanely jealous of the guys who do this so frequently that they can get to where I am in a few minutes.... then again they do this all day everyday. Anyway. No big shock, the pcv and egr circuits are all pretty well jammed. Here are some pics. I guess there’s no surprises yet. I’ll keep plugging along.
