Time to trade in my 2007 Prius. Suggestions on which of the newer models is best.

    I bought my 2007 Prius new and love it, but at over 250,000 miles, it's time to get a new car. I have never had to replace the main battery, only had to replace the auxiliary once (until this week, and now getting a new battery so I can drive for a few more months while I decide.) I have maybe put $2000 dollars into maintenance up until now.

    I transport items and use my car for work, so I am looking for plenty of trunk space. Gas mileage, comfort of the seats, and a well built, long lasting car are what I am looking for.

    Open to slightly used, but looking for something with low mileage. I only know the 2007 that I drive, and am doing some research but would love to hear about people's experiences with battery life, repairs, etc. needed on newer models and what you might recommend. Thanks!

    I don't think there is a "best." They're all terrific. Best for your purpose of storage would be a Prius v, but it's not a new model and the Gen 4 is way more comfortable and efficient. I don't think you can beat the regular Gen 4. It's just a matter of how high of a trim level you want and how much you want to spend. The Prime is unbeatable for economy, but gives up a little cargo space.

    Look for a v if cargo is important, but the mpg's is about 5 mpg less.

    My '16 v with 55K has had zero issues mpg in winter 35-39 summer 44-48, an honest low 40's lifetime.

    Best is subjective, but I got an awd-e Prius, and it does exactly what I need.
    After 45K kms -- 27,900 miles -- I'm averaging 61 us mpg, and I often see 70-80 mpg in the summer.
