    Code scanned today:

C1241 too low high battery volt
C1249 open close stop light switchlight

    Root cause :
The mechanic says there was shorting of stop light switch circuit due to high/low volts.

    Solution:
Replace open close stop light switch ($75 part + $40 labor)
I already have a new 12v battery installed 4 months ago.

Anybody has any thoughts on this ?
Maybe my stop light switch was faulty to begin with?

How many hours per week are you currently driving the vehicle?

Which OBD2 scanner was used to retrieve the above DTCs (OBD2 codes) ?

Before throwing money and parts, you may want to measure the resistance of the Stop Lamp Switch Assy (step 4) using the workup below.

Here is the workup for DTC C1249 : https://share.qclt.com/%E4%B8%B0%E7%94%B0%E6%99%AE%E7%91%9E%E6%96%AF%E5%8E%9F%E5%8E%82%E8%8B%B1%E6%96%87%E6%89%8B%E5%86%8Cpdf%E6%A0%BC%E5%BC%8F/repair%20manual/04pruisr/05/21avn/cic12494.pdf

Here is the workup for DTC C1241 : https://share.qclt.com/%E4%B8%B0%E7%94%B0%E6%99%AE%E7%91%9E%E6%96%AF%E5%8E%9F%E5%8E%82%E8%8B%B1%E6%96%87%E6%89%8B%E5%86%8Cpdf%E6%A0%BC%E5%BC%8F/repair%20manual/04pruisr/05/21avn/cic12414.pdf

Looks like i can only post 2 messages per day here. It limits me.

My abs codes were cleared. But when i start my prius in safe mode i still see abs, vsc, brake,(!) And also check engine light(which had never come before).

Does anyone know why safe mode shows these lights ?

since my codes were rather innocuous c1249 (stop light switch), i am going to watch my prius over the next month before taking up any repair.

My brake actuator while i am driving makes noise every 10 secs.
What other checks can i do that will tell me i need to replace my brake actuator ?
I did not get the 2 codes(c1256,c1391) that indicate brake actuator imminent failure.

What leads you to believe there is a 2 post limit?
What do you mean by "safe mode"?

It was coming up with a 4 line cryptic error message in a difficult to read font each time i post. It had a message s/t like i exceeded my limit of messages i can post

Not pressing brake pedal and pressing start/ignition twice

I've not heard of that before, but maybe only for new members with 5 or fewer posts. You should be ok now. You can thank spammers/bots for the inconvenience of these counter-measures.
That is ignition on or IG-ON, for future reference. In addition, pressing the Power button once with the foot off the brake is the accessory mode or ACC mode.
In IG-ON this is normal and not an error. It is simply a bulb check. All the error lamps light except for the red triangle which is the master warning light.
