    No comparison, but we can smell the left coast smoke here pretty strongly. We don't have clouds but the sun is not visible either. On a bright full sun day I normally get ~950 W/m2 of solar radiation. Today our peak was 139.2 W/m2. Pretty amazing at this distance.

    You must be under that narrow red tongue of smoke that crosses TX and OK in this satellite image this afternoon. There will be much more crossing the continent very soon:

    That narrow tendril reaching to TX and OK has faded, but a very large mass has now moved all the across the continent along the whole northern half of the U.S. and much of southern Canada:

    While the upper level smoke density here has noticeably thinned, that hasn't yet brought any relief down at the surface. The expected overnight light rain did not materialize, so it seems that we are stuck with this Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy, and in very many other places (south and east of here) Hazardous air, for several more days.

    Now that the air is clean enough to exercise, and my bicycle has finally recovered from that major nationwide shortage of repair parts, I just might go cycling past those half billion dollar sports palaces though ...

    Too bad that there is still a STENCH in the air because of all the political BS being throw around.
    REALLY too bad that a good person dying becomes a political event. :(
