Sounds good! I’m going to be heading out of town for a couple weeks on a BASE jumping trip, then getting caught back up on work before getting another round of these made up. Working on getting the website all set up as well. I’ll keep you posted when I’ve got them finished!

I'd be interested to hear how it's working out for you and in purchasing one for a 2020. Like you, I really miss the storage and having the floor flush with the back of the car for easy loading. Thanks.

Hey dlgoff! So far I absolutely love this setup. I'm on version 3 now which has an integrated storage compartment. I would still like to figure out a way for it to have a "lid" of some sort for structural purposes. I have carried quite a bit of weight on top of it (several hundred pounds of steel) as well as slept on it, etc. I would still like to replace the factory lid with a thicker piece of wood and do some sort of spray on bed liner or coating on it since I haul quite a bit with it but I don't see a way to offer that to the public easily. The other issue I ran into with the platform is shipping. Rates went up quite a bit since I initially built this and then adding the additional cargo area quadrupled the shipping volume and tippled the weight which will undoubtedly result in high shipping costs, likely in the $100 range. I still need to get my final version finalized but have just been so busy with lift sales its been on the back burner. If you're interested send me a PM and we can go from there.

@PriusOffroad, I hadn't paid much attention to this before, but now my wife has a 2017 trim 2 and we're planning a trip to Ohio in October. I think I'll ask her if she wants me to make one of these for her. It's been a while since I had a good reason to pull out the MIG welder. I think, due to the possibility of increased noise, we may only use it for long trips to take advantage of the extra storage, but we'll see how it does. Thanks for the inspiration and the trail blazing.

By the way, any pix of the new and improved version?

    I'm confused. A 2013 Prius is considered a Gen 4?
So these pics are from a 2013 Prius Two?

You are most definitely confused. The pics are from a 2019 AWD-e.

Nice! The frame is pretty straight forward for the average fabricator with a welder. The storage compartment is a little more challenging, especially without a plasma and a press break. No pics yet, you’ll just have to be patient.

Yup. He did say it. Plus the pictures made it pretty obvious. I'm pretty sure that only the AWDe has an inverter where the spare tire should go. :D

I asked her about it and she just kind of said, "Hmmm." Pretty sure she wasn't gaga over the idea, but that's my unadventurous wife for ya.
