2015 Prius Alpha dash/multidisplay question. First time buyer.

    Hi everyone, first time poster here. Really needing some help before I commit to this car and hoping someone here can give me an answer. I am currently in the process of upgrading to a new car and wanted to go hybrid so figured a prius was the best choice. I decided to go with the alpha for the extra boot space. I also wanted to go with a 2015 model or newer in black. I told the dealer what I was after last week and he said he might have to custom order something in from Japan as they didn't have any in stock meeting that criteria (I live in NZ so most of our secondhands are Japanese imports) He came back with a car he showed me today meeting my specs. It was really great and I took it for a test drive but noticed one thing which was off about the dash which I hadn't seen on the 2015 model from looking online. I thought all the dashes on this year up have the multi display panel in the center which show various stats about the car, but this one had a different layout which I could only find by looking at 2014 and older models. Pics of what I'm describing are here (not the actual car but the first pic is the same dash in this 2015 I was shown compared to the dash below in all the 2015s online I searched) :

    I asked the dealer about this and he said he'd never seen that dash before and all the priuses he'd sold had the dash in image one. He also said it was an etune model, not sure was that was referring to exactly.

    Please help if anyone knows what's going on here? Is there a geninue 2015 model that exists without the multi display or is this just possibly not a 2015 to begin with. I find it unlikely they would try to scam me like this as the car dealer in question is generally quite trustworthy but this is just really bugging me and I don't want to commit to the car as is.

    Please advise if you think I would be better off sticking with the car or going back and asking for one with the multi screen, happy to wait longer if needs be to get the right car. Thanks in advance.

    In the US, the 2015 v trim 2 seems to have retained something similar to older dash display while the trim 3 and 4 gained the extra part of the dash screen. From what I can tell, the same data is available from both. Dash pic is from an advertised 2015 trim 2 while the other pic shows the differences in trims.

    By the way, the Hybrid System Indicator on the simpler style can be set to display or not based on preference. The attached pics are based on a US left hand drive display.

    Get a ICE vehicle..... Hybrids very expensive and complicated to repair.

    To bug people like you. And to help people
    that might buy a used prius then have all kinds of expensive problems.
    I get lots of messages thanking me for supplemental info. Some buyers only have x amount of dollars then have thousands in repairs thinking Toyota will last indefinitely.

    I think your dealer mixed with old shape Prius alpha and new shape Prius alpha display. Your first screen shot from old Alpha which ended in Japan in October 2014. Rest of the screen shot coming from New Shape Alpha started from November 2014 in Japan. I have JDM Prius alpha 2015 and it is new shape and has new look of display and front bumper. You can take 2015 JDM Prius Alpha without any hesitation.

    Hi there - I am also in NZ and have two Prius Alpha wagons - both "G-Spec" ex japan. That dash picture is for the first generation up to November 2014. If you send me your frame no (on sticker inside passenger door frame, there is a web site I use that can tell you exactly when it was manufactured (well month and year anyway). The multi display dash is in the models from Nov 2014 onwards. In the earlier ones the other displays are done via the stereo unit when you put it into energy monitor and related modes. You can display graphs of kms per litre for the last 10 minutes, you can show diagrams of energy flows to/from wheels, battery and ICE. If yours has a japan stereo send me the model number (on the front of the stereo) and I can send you instructions on how to activate these modes on the screen. Some models of stereo can also be set to english for most functions. Hope this helps. Murray

    Thank you for elaborating the differences. My JDM Alpha 2015 has NSZN-W64T model stereo Player. I have Japanese manuals. Do you have English Manual of it. Also, is it possible to convert it language to english?
