    Toyota never came up with a fix for this problem; Prius Chat as always been " avant garde" regarding user's complaints and fixes

    The EVSE for the Prime does not have that orange rubber seal. I guess the engineers convinced the lawyers that removing the seal would not be a lawsuit risk. :rolleyes:

    If it's like the 2012, reach into the connector with a small pick and remove the orange gasket ring. It's not necessary.

    Another victim here. Just got home.

    In my opinion, yank off that metal clip and throw it away. That will save you the trouble of almost having to spend a night in a PIP that won't start, does not give you heat or cold air.

    Anybody tried just plucking out that O ring, rubbing a tiny dab of silicone plumbing grease or silicone brake caliper grease into it, and putting it back?

    Does wonders. I have to do it every few years with the O rings in my air compressor hoses, whenever it's getting hard to put fittings in. A tiny dab does it.

    Maybe, but they eliminated it on newer models, so apparently it’s not necessary

    Can you elaborate? What metal clip?
    Pip will still start, even if you can’t charge it

    See picture. When I pull the stuck plug, this metal clip fell out. I had to assume this is the reason why it's stuck. So, throw it away is better.

    thanks, that is interesting. i've never seen that metal clip, or anyone else mention it before.

    it looks like part of those big paperclips for large amounts of paper

    @bisco,
    The paper clip in the picture is to give viewer a reference of the size of the metal clip.
