    Anyone have a Prime in Pennsylvania. Wondering if State Emissions Sticker is required since it is a partial Plug In vehicle. I'm thinking yes, but wanted to confirm with someone. Hardly any dealers in PA sell the Prime, I would have to go to New Jersey to purchase.

    So we just pulled the trigger yesterday and this was a lot of money for us so hoping to clarify if we did okay in our negotiating.

    2020 Prius Prime Limited (blue magnetism) with All Weather Floor Liner/Cargo Liner package ($259) and Door guards
    MSRP: 35139
    Discount: 1489
    Rebate: 3500
    Adjusted price: 30000
    Tax 1905.94
    Total cost (with taxes): 32,535.94
    We got a financing rate of 2.79 also

    I'm wondering now if we should have tried negotiating any other add ons or a lower price. This was our first time ever buying a car from a dealership so we were very new to it all.

    Congrats on your new Prime !!!!

    We have an XLE so I can only guess you got a good deal on a Limited, others with a Limited can compare better.

    We did manage to get a 0% finance rate, but that was back in early June so not sure if that was a limited time offer, or if our credit rating helped us get it, or simply just because the finance officer got us that rate or a combination of those things. Though keeping your finance rate under 3% seems pretty good too.

    ......we got the blue magnetism also, neat color !!!!!

    You could've obtained an additional $1200-$1300 off. Potentially more as the 2021s will be arriving soon.

    Thank you. From everyone we talked to they said we could either take the toyota rebate or get the 0%APR but they wouldn't do both. SO it came down to us saving more money with the rebate and still financing a bit. I don't know if dealerships are starting to do more business now or if we just didn't push hard enough.

    I wish I'd found this site earlier... we'll know to push harder the next time. Also I don't think I noted that the last price I put was with all the taxes and fees tacked on. 30k was what we negotiated the car down to.

    Okay, I can understand that, we might have taken the rebate over the 0% also but they did not offer rebates on the Prime in our region, but we are happy with the 0% regardless.

    When trying to get the best possible deal with any dealership there are a few things to try, they might help and they might not but it doesn't hurt to try. One thing is to get offers from several different dealers within the area you're willing to travel to, you might be able to save as much as $1000 or even more just from driving an extra 20 miles. Another thing is it seems dealers get incentives tied to meeting monthly sales quotas, so if it is getting near the end of a month and they are desperate to meet their quota they might offer a better deal than they normally might.

    The big thing is to make a lower counter offer, they might not go that low but maybe they might meet you half-way or at least come down some in the price. If they don't want to budge at all on the price be willing to walk out the door and tell them well we have some other dealerships we are going to try. Many dealerships would rather have a sale with a little less profit than not to have a sale at all and they might stop you before you even get out the door.

    All of that is just my views, I'm not any expert on the subject, and it might not work with every dealership, but again, it doesn't hurt to try.

    Another thing is to make sure your contract does not have any penalty for paying off the car early, some people will round up their monthly payments and even occasionally make a double payment to pay the car off sooner and save money on the overall amount of interest they pay by the time they pay the car off.

    Anyhow, could you have gotten a little better deal ? Maybe, I can't say for sure but I don't think you got a bad deal either, so now just focus on enjoying your new Prime and use this forum to search for help or ask questions as far as different things about driving and maintaining your Prime.

    Dealerships are currently giving between $2675-$2750 off in addition to the corporate rebate on the Limiteds. Attached was the dealerships first offer on my Limited.

    Purchased 2020 XLE from Heritage Toyota Catonsville MD. They do not sell the Prime where i live in FL so I had to source it out of state, do the contract remotely and arrange delivery. With the hot weather in FL I wanted the moonstone interior and white (blizzard pearl) or silver exterior, so definitely reduced my choices because most of the softex interiors are black. Price - $30,073 less $2,000 MD rebate (I know other states are higher but could not find the color combo I wanted elsewhere), plus $500 fees, FL sales tax and FL registration and licensing $621, total $31,000. I would highly recommend James Akinola at this dealer if you need a Prime - helpful, organized and flexible.

    Also in the southeast region where Primes are very hard to find, we were determined to get magnetism blue and was not in a hurry so did a factory order from Japan, took just over the expected 4 month wait but it was worth the wait !

    It's a hassel to buy a car out of state in MA, and get it inspected and registered. The MA dealers are connected to the RMV and can take care of all of the registration and inspection issues. MA is not going to furnish out of state dealers with these registration tools for obvious reasons.

    We buy our vehicles in MA, and have warranty service performed at a dealership in NH. It's actually closer, or not that much further away
    than a MA dealer. We're actually a preferred customer at the Salem NH Honda & Toyota dealership :)

    FWIW: we bought our newest Prime from Stephen Toyota in Bristol CT, who got the model/color we wanted from a Massachusetts dealership. Our dealer took care of all the paperwork. Check out inventories via something like cargurus and your preferred dealer may be able to facilitate the sale.

    Yes dealer swaps are a good way to find the particular car that you are looking for, I was able to easily find my Prime at a MA dealer.

    BTW The 80 Corolla Black Package (vehicle in my avatar - not mine though) that I was seeking was "unavailable" when I found it on the lot at Portsmouth NH Toyota. I found one at Nashua NH Toyota, but it was sold. In 1980, people were snapping up Toyotas due to the 79 gas shortage (egads..40+ years ago!)

    The salesman from Nashua Toyota called me and told me to hurry down (actually up:)) and get this one that just arrived. It was the same one I found in Portsmouth. They sent it to Nashua received in a swap!

    I am little confused about the fed tax credit. If you include the tax credit, it would end up being 28,640 - 4502 = 24,138 right?

    I went from driving a 1998 Toyota Corolla I bought brand new, put 218k miles on it, and decided it was finally time for an upgrade, haha. Think I got my money's worth out of that car. This is what I purchased! I'm loving my Prime, 2 weeks and 480 miles in, and I've only used about 3.5 gallons of gas! haha

    2020 Prius Prime Limited (Titanium Glow). w/all weather cargo line/floor mats.

    30,989 dealer price +9.5% sales tax, tag, registration, dealer doc fees made it around $36,500 (LA City tax + CA tax is a killer). This was from Dianne, who is now at West Coast Toyota in Long Beach and is awesome. Effortless, I just called her a few days before, asked what she had and how much. I drove down, was there 90 minutes, and out the door. No bs, extremely stress free. Financing was a hassle because the dealer didn't have the same rates as our credit union (even though they had the contract brought up, so I had to deal with that 2 days later, but got 2.49% from our credit union!)
    I am very happy with how everything went, and Dianne is amazing. Thank you Dianne.

    Correct. But the MSRP seems to be off. Either he misquoted the price or it is PRIME XLE, not the LTE as he mentioned.

    Here is what I found in June /2018:

    1. Make your best deal with the dealer (no govt incentives were even discussed! the fed one is tricky)
    2. In Massachusetts / 2018 submit paperwork / receive $1,500.00 check - you must keep the car for 3 years
    I don't know what happens if it my car gets totaled / stolen (fingers crossed) other states are different

    2. Submit your tax return to the IRS in April, or whatever, and $4,502.00 will be deducted from your FED return,
    but not FICA, you need to have an income tax liability in excess of $4,502.00 to take advantage or this feature.
