That was me. I actually hate captcha and any blind banning based off of IPs or geofencing.

When I want to send a message I don't want to pick out the streetlights on 100 images. Additionally I have done some work on software that gets around CAPTCHA. Ironically as of today, robots are better at captcha's than humans lol. So it is really useless tech now.

    But thankyou

Ed's and everyone else's batteries shipped out today. Truck arrived close to 8pm last night, and we all worked 20 hours straight through the night (after a full day before!) until an hour or two ago to unload, test, and ship everyone's orders. Bed time.

Will mr Toaster kit will last as long as the panasonic OEM battery, it looks like mr Toaster it’s a retailer from a overseas manufacturer, anyone correct me if am wrong, but I just try to figure out how reliable this batteries are going to be based on the manufacturer and not on the seller.

Mr Toaster is a specialist battery designer based in CO USA who has batteries specifically manufactured for him to his exacting specifications. He does not just on-sell any old battery he can find, so in that sense, he is not just a retailer. Further, every battery is inspected and tested stateside to ensure it meets or exceeds his stated specification that each module is 6.5 Ah.
As above. Further to this, Mr Toaster provides the 2 years/unlimited miles guarantee himself.

These batteries have been commercially in the market since July 2017 and test units for a year before that, and there has been no replacement due to failure. There have been about 4 returns due to the inability (or in one case a misdiagnosis of the problem) by the customer to install the battery correctly. From my reading, these four cases just did not seem to have the competence to do the job properly. When you put that number against the total number of units sold over the last 3 years, it pales into insignificance.

You will have to ask 2k1Toaster what he expects would be the length of life of the battery, but in many ways, this crystal ball gazing is much akin to asking, "how long is a piece of string?" Nevertheless, there are metrics from the extensive testing where it could give a comfortable level of prediction.

I have no tie-up or link to this product. I am just passing on what I have read about it over the last three years. I like what I have read. With a bit of research, you can read the same.

i have used CHINESE battery’s of all types for quite a while i have found most to be of very high quality.
    Those folks know there shit.

Hard to give a definitive length of service of 2ks pack.

Are they the quality of the original Pansonic battery’s no They are not and don’t purport to be.

Are they the best alternative for someone with some good electronic skills like myself yes I believe they are.
The alternative is a variation of high or low quality whack a mole or one who agonizes over rebuilding there pack and putting days and days into load testing and interconnect rehab only to find out months down the road a module went south because it’s very old or it’s a g3 module and it’s 9 years old or 8 years old and out it must come again. We see that constantly on this site

    That would greatly suck.

I would rather spend my time installing brand new modules brand new interconnect and will be shocked if it does not work perfectly.

For comparison there’s a well known local used Prius dealer who will install a whacker g2 battery for $500
    A g2 battery with 10 year old g3 modules for $1400.
    With 7 year old g3 modules $1600.
    All with sliding warranty’s.

I do not know there quality of rehab on the interconnect nor there expertise that’s a leap of faith.
You pay your money you take the ride. And again all using used modules.

In My scenario I have complete control over quality of rehab and that’s very important to me.

Nobody knows how long they will last. A lot of us bought them partly to volunteer and see how well they will do, and to encourage a competitive marketplace. Toyota's prices used to be a lot higher, and many dealers wouldn't sell to a DIYer, and they give a short 1 year warranty to DIYers. This was/is NPB competitive advantage (no core charge either).

The OEM batteries were made by a joint venture between Toyota and Panasonic, named PEVE (aka Primearth EV), which nowadays has a lot of joint ventures and factories in China. So personally I question whether OEM prismatic Gen2 batteries are not just made in China nowadays, just like the cylindrical cells. Since the batteries have very few markings, it is rather hard to tell.

I also wonder how "new" the OEM batteries are. Ni-MH has a high discharge rate. An OEM battery left on a warehouse shelf for several months or even years could have a lot of life taken out of it. But who knows.

    The trouble with
    just in time
Is that if everyone does it
everybody ends up late if even the least bit of disruption occurs

    So more like
    Just Too Late

The old way of doing things assured that you had working contingencies and a secured supply base (as opposed to theoretical)

In many cases the old way ended up with less cost assuming you can manage land and interest costs.

But one can know as there are build dates on every module, one just needs to remove the top cover which needs to be done anyways to complete the parts transfer from the old donor pack. When I got my OEM in July of '17, the modules were from April '17.

yeah but why do we have to find out about the date after the purchase and delivery?

we have more pre-purchase product information about a 99 cent can of beans at the grocery store than we do about these 2000 dollar batteries.

If it really means that much to you you could always ask for the build date before purchasing, or make the purchase conditional on a recent build date or you'll return the unit.

Probably they don’t know the build date if the date is not stamped on the outside of the battery housing anyway I will worry about only if the dealer you getting it from have the battery in stock but if they have to order from warehouse you good, I personally call dealers asking for the battery and price and I was talk they don’t stock them and if they have it in stock probably is from a order that was canceled so good to know I will be skeptical about dealer that have the battery in stock, if they do definitely I need to know how long been there.

You sell batteries for anything else? I don't even need any but I'm ready to support your business solely on the strength of this position. So rare and welcome!!

I'm not talking about those annoying captchas where you have to hunt through pictures & click a dozen different times. I hate those & you absolutely don't need to go anywhere near that level.

I'm talking about super simple "google recaptcha" where the ONLY thing the user does is click one inert checkbox that says I am not a robot - that's it. I run dozens of websites, and from first-hand experience, I can tell you it is absolutely not useless tech even now. Adding that one silly checkbox, which does not hamper the user experience in any way, has eliminated daily spam emails from 1,000 messages per website down to 1-2 per day per website.

Another random suggestion about your website, on your store page "Most Popular Products" & "New Products" is redundant (and potentially confusing). Adding a FAQ page would be nice too :)
