I'm from central NJ and looking to buy a third-gen Prius in the next month or two. Joined this forum hoping to find a classified section... don't see one. Some questions: - What's the best way to make sure the hybrid system + battery is in good condition? - What else should I look for when shopping for a used Prius? - Who's the go-to Prius mechanic around here? Thanks, Evan
welcome! glad you found us before buying. research 'egr' here, along with 'head gasket', and brake actuator. if you don't diy, be prepared to spend a small fortune in potential repairs. all the best!
Download the Dr Prius app, get a OBD scanner, I bought the Veepeak OBDCheck VP11 on Amazon, you have to purchase a license to use the app to monitor the battery. You can use the Life Expectantcy test, it is 3 steps, just follow the directions it will tell you the % of life in the Hybrid pack. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Thanks, I'll check that out! I own a regular OBD scanner but I don't think it has any special hybrid features.
