I tried to find if this has that horrible auto off engine feature that stops the engine when the car stops. It looked it in one of the pictures but I couldn't find it in the specs on the Toyota site. If it has that then it's a no-go for me right away. Tried it out on a Highlander and it was horrible.
Had that on my last two hybrid Toyotas. Not really noticeable. You must have better hearing than I do.
No this is a full hybrid so the engine off will not be noticeable like it is on the ICE only and will only be applicable in hybrid mode. When running in EV mode the engine will be normally off during all of its 42 EV miles just like it is on my Prime, but more like 31 EV miles. But you are right, all of the auto off engine ICE only cars I’ve rented were mostly annoying and very abrupt when restarting. In all of them the A/C would either stop completely or have some serious degradation while stopped. iPad ? Pro
It was abrupt starting like drash mentioned that was the annoying feature. The sound didn't bother me so much though it was noticeable.
in both our model S and X, we would use the top ½ of the massive display as a rear view mirror. Much better than a mirror - as the rear-view camera would EASILY depict around 150° view - & yet the camera caused very little fisheye type distortion.. One can't get anywhere near that much View from your typical rear view mirror - even coupled with side view mirrors. since posts on PC tell of dealers taking advantage of the shortage of these cars, due to battery shortages, The Limited Supply is allowing dealerships to mark them up $10,000. Now you REALLY need to recalculate cost of ownership .
Are you talking about camping with the car on overnight? It has an option in the instrument panel that can turn the car off in 1 hour or to disable auto-off. If you’re talking about driving, that’s normal hybrid operation.
Yes, I don't have that kind of abrupt off/on when I stop. It's almost a lurch! No, I'm talking normal operation while driving. I know for older Highlander models the auto-off would have to be pushed every time the vehicle was started. So you could disable it but it was an extra step every time you went to drive it.

I managed to pick up a RAV4 Prime SE today for MSRP. I was all set to buy a Prius Prime because I know these are hard to come by with waiting lists and people paying well over MSRP but I got lucky. I'll post some pics and feedback soon.
Congrats on a new car, I have Prius prime and want to buy one end of the year or early next year, I would like to see some feedback from people who preordered and if they can get sticker or below. I want the fully loaded one. Where r u located?
Los Angeles County. My plan was to email smaller dealerships farther out from LA. One got back to me out of the blue and didn't have a markup. All the others that reached out to me had markups between $2k-$10k. I got the bare basics but even the bare SE is pretty loaded with features.
Congrats! They are hard to come by. Do create a new post as this thread is meant for reviews and discussions of those reviews
