I see there is a 3D print file available for the OCC bracket and hose routing clamp. Does anyone on PriusChat or other sites sell those? I don't have a 3D printer but I'd love to clean up my rats nest of zipties and plumbers tape that is currently holding my newly installed OCC in place. Thanks in advance!

While researching OCC mounting locations, I ran across this YouTube video of a guy who relocated his PCV further upstream on the OCC inlet hose for easier access and to prevent pooling of condensed oil on the exit side of the PCV valve which could potentially happen if the OCC is mounted above the PCV (I think we can all agree that mounting the OCC below the PCV is better except for ease of access). What are your thoughts on this interesting approach to relocate the PCV? It would certainly make inspection/swapping much easier and I see the logic of it helping keep pooled oil from resting near it. Your thoughts?

Hi Mendel, I like your 2 OCC setup. Thinking of doing the same. Hate the idea of that much goop getting past the first can. Where did you get that long angle bracket that you used?

Up here there's a place called Commander Warehouse, they sell various slotted angle. I think the angle comes in 12' lengths, which they'll sell you, or various shorter lengths, or a custom length, any increment of 2". I believe they have a snipper that makes quick work of cutting it. What I used was 2.5" by 1.5" (Product number 60A). I used to use it a lot for bookshelves, so have a bit of a stockpile.

There's probably someone similar near you. Search for warehouse equipment, shelving, that sort of thing.

(slotted angle is in shelving systems category)

2 Questions since I installed OOC.

1, What will be the result if the OCC leaked or oil clot and only partial of air pressure return to manifold or perhaps no air return to manifold for this 3Gen prius? As I see there are no sensor between the PCV to manifold.

2 Doesn't OCC support to put below the PCV lever? ( People put OCC behind the light head is slightly higher than PCV level and small amount of condensed oil stay on the outline hose from PCV )?

OCC air leak you want to avoid. OCC clog up would be bad as well.

That's the point we can not tell daily drive if partial leakage or clotted of OOC and not enough pressure return to manifold. Even the originally Toyota designed has no sensor attached.

If clogged, engine temp will go up on the terms you use some device to watch the actual temp readout. If leak, you’ll get check engine light. Mine used to have a leak but no CEL came up, it didn’t leak pass the threshold to trigger the CEL. Strangely my occ sealed up itself, no leak since the last 4 times emptied.

3Gen prius don't have temp monitor on daily drive and even have a sensor to detect leakage between PCV to manifold

My 2013 accelerating s@ck after 2weeks of OCC installed. Inside OCC has approx 1 teaspoon of oil after 400miles drive. Need to figure out.

I have installed occ for about 2 years.

I saw differences of the vehicle.
First, there is fewer oil accumulated in the plenum and the oil left is much thicker.
Second, there is fewer wet oily residue in the threads of all 4 spark plugs. They were full of wet oil on all threads before (I am pretty sure the seal is fine.). Now, 2 spark plug are wet on threads and 2 of them are dry. Furthermore, only half of threads are contaminated instead of full length of threads before.

About the spark plug thing, I suppose it indicate the engine oil vaper or mist going into cylinders is reduced. That is also an indirect evidence that the egr clog will be reduced with a oil catch can.

I converted my 82 diesel suburban to run to the atmosphere (exhaust) through a blowout valve When I converted to the “better fuel economy “ intake that lacked an attachment

For starters, it's illegal. To be fair though, I'm pretty sure installing the catch can inline is illegal too because in doing so, you're altering the emissions system -- albeit for the better, but you're still altering it.

Secondly, the air/fuel/oil mixure is a toxic polutant that we really don't want wafting into the air. Which is why it's illegal to do so.
