= why 100% of people need to wear masks in social situations

    the ironic part was -

A part of our country that is a known hotspot and having a medical emergency actually advertising for strangers from other communities to come to their area, contract the virus and then spread it to their communities

Myrtle Beach awaits tourists despite being ‘hot spot’ for covid-19 outbreaks | TribLIVE.com

"Last week, a health advisory from the Kentucky Department for Public Health recommended residents who’ve recently traveled to Horry County self-quarantine."

"The Virginia cases come as health officials in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky said they have clusters of cases linked back to travel from the beach."

“Myrtle Beach is an absolute hot spot and, if I were you, I would consider going somewhere else,” West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice said this week.

A pandemic hotspot running enticing vacation adds on TV to attract people

A very sad fact is that for young adults who think they are invincible there is some emerging evidence of potential long term organ damage that needs to be investigated.

So why does coronavirus affect those over 60 so much worse than the young? There is now some indication (not yet proven) that the MMR vaccine may provide some protection. Those of us over 60 didn't get this vaccine because it didn't exist when we were young. We caught the actual diseases instead.

There are territories, like American Samoa, where everyone, including adults, were given the MMR vaccine, and there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus (of course it is also an island that sealed itself off, so that also isn't yet proof).

MMR Vaccine May Be Reason Children Are Less Affected by COVID-19
Coronavirus in Samoa | Think Global Health

The above Samoa article is interesting because it mentions the vaccine, and the fact that there are no coronavirus cases, but they haven't made the connection yet, other than being prepared. I saw a news show where they indicated that they think it might be the Rubella part of the MMR vaccine that could be responsible for providing some protection against the coronavirus.

Adults can get the MMR vaccine. Though 60-something now, I had it in my 40s as part of a travel preparation bundle, to a region where numerous vaccinations are strongly recommended. And I didn't remember getting the R disease in childhood.

My provider's website says: "Adults born after 1956 should receive at least one MMR vaccination if they have never had the diseases or received an MMR vaccine during their lifetime." My on-line records show only a single dose, though it is meant as a two dose vaccine, so make sure children get both.

Maybe the same reason I only found it after hunting around a bunch. Under the 'Info/History' tab, there is "View Version 2, the most recent version of this article." - after clicking the link/new version page it will load and show "WITHDRAWN" near the top left corner.

Maybe slow page loading and rendering? Or an abort before completion?

On mine the red "Withdrawn" banner was a bit tardy, the very last thing to show, but did come up on the original link. Had I been using my slower mobile device, it might have been delayed far too long.

I also have Noscript and other ad- and third-party-content blockers that prevent much extraneous stuff from even loading, sometimes allowing other intended content to appear sooner.

A study, published last week in the journal Cell, reveals that when COVID infects human cells, it relies on a family of enzymes known as kinases in order to promote its own spread and survival. By attaching "tiny chemical tags to proteins," coronavirus is able to hijack those cells and reprogram them with the singular goal of multiplying.

Luckily, the creation of these new molecular paths is a phenomenon that scientists are well familiar with—especially cancer researchers, who have been developing solutions to abnormal kinase activity for decades. Currently, there are "dozens" of drugs and therapies designed to stop this hijacking in its tracks, meaning researchers have a roadmap for how to deal with kinase-dependent diseases, and a shortcut to identifying safe treatments that are likely to be approved for widespread use.

not really unexpected in such a short time frame
