I changed out the Coil, now the number 3 cylinder is acting up and it's knocking. I am going to go with NGK plugs and all four coils, then clean the EGR shit again, despite not getting any engine codes but it's knocking like crazy at low RPMs but that could just be low quality plugs and coils. Since I'll have the wiper cowl off anyway. I inspected the injectors, checked out. No vacuum leaks either.

Still no obvious signs of a head gasket leak.

Have you cleaned the intake manifold? Forget if it's been asked/answered. It has a small dia (1/4" EGR passage at each intake port.

I cleaned the EGR stuff after I got the car and found out issues with the car resulting in the EGR stuff getting clogged would result in a blown head gasket.

Does the same issue that impacts 2010-2014 Priuses (?) Impact other Toyotas? My friend has an '09 matrix and wonder if this stuff is something they should keep an eye on.

No more prius. The motor blew apart. It's now a fully electric vehicle.

My assumption is either the oil cooler or the block. I have it sitting at my trusted mechanic and he's going to tell me. I can't take it to a dealer since the nearest Toyota dealership is 1:30 away.

I think the EGR cooler was a feature of the Prius only. It was for better fuel economy and for the higher compression ratio of the 2zr-fxe

Did the engine break when you try to start the car?

    Pixel XL ?

Those were simpler times. Pre-pandemic and pre-fatherhood.

Nope, started going up a hill, and there was a bang, low pressure light, and I was leaving a trail of oil in the road like spy hunter. That was the only part I found in the road, I have a feeling there is more and shrapnel.

Yea, cars are replaceable. So I am car hunting. If anyone lives around me, the HV battery is good. $500 takes the battery.

    2ZR-FXE is an Atkinson-cycle engine.

Low compression ratio. High expansion ratio.
