Hello All, can someone savvy tell me whether is a good idea to buy a magnetic oil drain plug for the transmission pan? And if yes, what is the specification of that plug?
    Cheers.

Gosh. I guess we kind of missed your question. In my opinion, it's a matter of opinion. I have never had a magnetic drain plug in 50 years of driving. Never had any ill effects from not having one. They may have had some value back in the first half of the previous century when engines kind of ground themselves to pieces.

I don’t think so, and I don’t know if anyone makes a plug that size with a magnet. It’s a peculiar bolt on that transmission.

And now that I think of it, it doesn't even have a transmission pan! :D

Thanks for your answer. While getting ready to buy my Prius, I came across this notion the filter cannot quite capture the smallest particles in the oil which then inevitably shorten the life ot the engine. I am not technical enough to judge whether that is or isn't the case.. Nevermind that :) I found some bolts on aliexpress and made a purchase... (transmission and engine oil plugs) I'll share thoughts once they arrive and if they successfully install. Cheers.

I bought a gen2 magnetic oil drain plug. Body of plug was anodized aluminum. Not strong enough to take torque of being tightened. Junk!

PS. IIRC gen2 transaxle comes with magnetic trans drain plug.

No changes yet but some have reported reduced ranges down to under 10 miles in EV. Mine is down to 11

There was one account here of a failure under warranty. Still a major hassle because, as you might guess, the dealers don't have them laying around. And one other story, iirc, of an out of warranty failure.

So far, they seem to be holding up really well. Just some reduced capacity as @Simtronic said.

No worries. It's such a rare event when one fails, it's easy to not notice it. For all I know there may be other incidents that we missed here or that never made it onto Priuschat. :)

    I hope so.
It will take about 3 month to get in my country and ger repaired too. found same color rear door for 120$ , what it needs is tire , body repair and paint labor for quarter panel and rear bumper. for 300$ car will look healthy. Someone said that maybe collision touch rear suspinsion. but I dont thinks so/ car looks really well cared and freshly. hope charger will come with it :)

Around my office & at home, I generally say "State of Georgia" or "Republic of Georgia" since we have friends in one place and coworkers who used to live in the other. ;)
