Wuhan did a boatload of tests:

Wuhan swabs 9 million people, tests 6.5 million for COVID-19 in 10 days | Ars Technica

Nine million swabbings is plausible. I see the 6.5 million tests were done by 10-fold pooling of samples. Seemingly a clever way to bring workload into reality land, where one expects few positive results.

I expect other folks who want to mega test have considered doing similar

I've had a lot of practice punching needles through those rubber / silicone plugs too. Mostly medium gauge needles for calves, occasionally the large gauge needles for adult animals.

They don't get the luxury of sharp single-use needles, but must put up with used less-sharp giant needles that would make me faint on sight if pointed my way. I guess that is their price for having really thick hides.

The hazards of shared needles are well established for humans . . . despite, in many cases, thick hides.

The farmer may dip the needle in iodine or alcohol between jabs.

researchers from zhongnan hospital in wuhan say asymptomatic cases are likely 40%, and those people tend to be younger and female.
the good news is that they only shed the virus half as long as symptomatic cases.

The past few weeks have seen an explosion in misleading claims about COVID-19. These are mostly online, and many are intended to sow doubts about vaccination as a way to protect against infection. For the individuals and organizations involved in such disinformation, the pandemic is a gilded opportunity. They are capitalizing on both the many unknowns about the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the disease it causes, as well as the many legitimate questions about safety and efficacy as vaccines are being developed at unprecedented speed.
    . . .

My previous skepticism about a vaccine was based on how difficult SARS-CoV-2 has turned out to be compounded by how badly political 'wishful thinking' has polluted some efforts. Then I saw this earnest young lady holding an anti-vax sign and realized she is anti-science. We are barely 600 years from the Dark Ages and in spite of wide-spread, public education, ignorance and fear is just under a thin skin.

strange things happen to the some brains when medical issues cannot be resolved. some of us accept it, and some look for something to blame.
meanwhile, we all have to get along somehow

On the subject of sharp needles, my anecdotal evidence that they became much sharper from 1976 to 2000. Approximately my blood-donation 'career'. Dun no what manufacturing trick made them sharper but the improvement was obvious from my end.

The "OMG I don't even like looking at that" fat needles have their port on the side instead of in beveled tip. Very good for circulating gas with a 2-needle setup without cutting silicone divots..

i didn't start giving blood until 2006, so i guess i'm fortunate in that way. even blood draws now, hardly noticeable.
i can't wait until all virus testing is blood, the short nasal swab, or better yet, bones' tricorder

Don't think it explains the change in 1976, but they have been looking at mosquitoes' mouth parts for less painful needles.

Surgisphere drug researchers appear to have brought fraud into anti - Hydroxychloroquine research. Why.
The author of the video below (Chris Martenson, PhD in pathology specializing in neurotoxicology - ex-VP of Phizer) talks fast - due to the massive amount of data / research - so DON'T let your eyes glaze over!

This video/expose on anti-HCQ truly leans towards scam 'research'. Looks a LOT like it's on par with the fraud brought against the Hummer versus Prius efficiency study.

Ultimately - slamming a drug that's been effective for decades ought to raise questions as to whether $$$/pharma is over-riding common sense.

Putting your last 2 posts together I wonder how much brain damage they found in journalists for mainstream media.

Just looking for a source of this report. So I asked Mr, Google and got:
Clues to COVID-19 in the brain uncovered in new study: Researchers review neuroimaging for patients and show altered mental state and stroke dominate -- ScienceDaily

"Studies have described the spectrum of chest imaging features of COVID-19, but only a few case reports have described COVID-19 associated neuroimaging findings," says lead author Abdelkader Mahammedi, MD, assistant professor of radiology at UC and a UC Health neuroradiologist. "To date, this is the largest and first study in literature that characterizes the neurological symptoms and neuroimaging features in COVID-19 patients. These newly discovered patterns could help doctors better and sooner recognize associations with COVID-19 and possibly provide earlier interventions."

Researchers in this study investigated neurological symptoms and imaging findings in patients from three major institutions in Italy: University of Brescia, Brescia; University of Eastern Piedmont, Novara; and University of Sassari, Sassari. Italy was the second epicenter of the spread of COVID-19, resulting in over 30,000 deaths.

The study included images from 725 hospitalized patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection between Feb. 29 and April 4. Of these, 108 (15%) had serious neurological symptoms and underwent brain or spine imaging. Most patients (99%) had brain CT scans, while 16% had head and neck CT imaging and 18% had brain MRI.
    . . .

The reason why sources are so important is we often find obscure details. A one line, ee cummings posting is more art than informative.

apologies, i forgot to mention the source. i was hoping to stimulate discussion, but it seems coronavirus has lost its appeal.
i guess needle sharpness improvements are more interesting
