This morning I can't get into my 2008 Prius. My SKS system is active, but the door will not unlock when I touch the handle. I'm double-checking to make sure that the FOB is on my person, and I remove my LG smartphone out of my pocket to get to it. Suddenly the door unlocks. Now that my smartphone is not physically next to my key FOB , the SKS responds. Lesson learned. Keep smartphone and FOB in separate pockets
You might think I'm crazy, but several years ago I picked up some radar components from an army surplus auction. Nothing had any sort of batteries installed or power to it. In fact it wasn't even the radar parts, but rather the processing hardware installed in these thick metal cases. Quite expensive stuff at the time (entire setup was probably $25,000 when it was new). When I got home and tried to unlock my Nissan SUV with the fob, it would not work. Had to use the key. After removing the equipment from the trunk, it started working fine! IDK what the hell was in those electronics, but it totally disabled my FOB.
I hope that was the only disruption. Radar components have tuned circuits which are sensitive to RF in their respective bands.
