I went to open the hatch by pressing the rubber button above the license plate. I do hear a thump as though the latch releases but it does not open. If I push down on the hatch after the initial "thump" I then hear a click as though the latch resets into the locked position. Any help would be appreciated.

The little button or the large one to its left?

The little one is the lock button.

Yes, I was pushing the rectangular one on the left. Never the small round one on the right.

Did you try holding the button pressed as you lifted?

it could be that a bit of cloth material or something is caught in there. try pulling really hard.

Ok I got it, finally.. I pushed down on the hatch as I pushed the button. This must have taken the pressure offf of the latch. (y) After that it opens normally...
