Prius moonroof (Panoramic) wont close anymore

At first I was thinking there might be some obstruction in the track. That looks like the designed behavior where the window encounters an obstruction and reverses.

But then seeing the rear one do the same thing ... ? Hmm. An obstruction in both tracks?

It's certainly worth checking for anything obvious that's mechanically in the way.

If that doesn't yield a solution, I think I would go straight to the Repair Manual (more info) for ideas. The mechanism is up over the headlining, and the headlining is tedious to take out (and also not super robust), so I would want to run through the details a couple times on paper (or monitor) before tearing into it in real life.

Edit: wait wait wait wait. Maybe simpler. Has the battery power been interrupted recently?

There might be an initialization to perform so the mechanism learns its correct closed points. It might even be covered in the Owner's Manual so you wouldn't need the Repair Manual. It possibly would involve holding the switch down in the 'close' direction for several seconds.

WD40 is a Solvent not a Lubricant.

 

I have found that you can close it almost all the way and then click the closed button again to stop it. This has worked for me (I have had it stop midway a few times throughout the years I have owned my 2012 Prius V).

 

at halfway point mine reverses when i try and close it. now i have to pull the wind deflector down and toggle the close button 4 or 5 times at the halfway point to get it closed
