I have a 2010 IV that I bought about 3 months ago. It has 87k miles on it, runs and drives fine. No warning lights. It had been in a wreck before I got it. It was hit in the front. Things are put back together, mostly right. My query: It makes three short beeps (inside, not outside) about 4 or 6 seconds after it's put into "Ready" mode. The ICE does not need to be started. It does not need to be in gear. It happens warm or cold. Any ideas?
To confirm what you are saying.... You get in the car with the key and sit down. You put your foot on the brake. Ready light comes on and about five seconds later, three beeps. Is that right? Could this be seat belt warning beep?
I, too, expect it's related to the repair. I read somewhere, that it has a collisions detector. I haven't been able to get anything concrete on that, though.
Hail Mary time.... Could an improper repair have left it so that the vehicle is no longer capable of detecting a passenger inside? So when you put it is READY, it is giving you the normal warning (which IS three beeps) for when the driver gets out and closes the door, but leaves the car in READY. A potential quick test for this --- get in, but leave the door OPEN. put the car in READY with the door open. Does it still beep?
That's not it. The tone of the sound is completely different from the "hey, you left me running!" sound. It's three quick, short, dare I say cheerful beeps that comes from under the dash.
Has it always been this way since the day you first bought it? Hail Mary #2 Some hard-wired aftermarket item that powers up when the car is in READY mode. Several cars ago, I bought a car that had a tiny beep at start-up. Turns out the previous owner had an expensive hard-wired radar system permanently installed. Not saying its that, but maybe its something electronic that beeps at power up. While the previous owner of your car could have tapped power anywhere, have you looked for an "add a fuse" at the block? Or maybe look under the dash where the sound is coming from for a box or something that looks aftermarket? Hail Mary #3 Your EV Mode button is not engaged, right? At this point, I think I have to turn over the ball on downs.
Those are some good clues. I'll look a little more closely. You reminded me that it has a sensor thingy from Progressive insurance plugged in... I wonder????
