Listen, I am NOT ignoring the very challenging reality the whole world is facing right now.
But I don't like headlines like "Hospitals are becoming death processing factories".

The truth is the USA is a HUGE country. Mile for mile, region to region, state to state, we have a huge diversity of population density and age demographics.
To me that means, the challenges at any given moment for any particular part of the USA can be very diverse.

That doesn't change that I think we all need to self isolate as much as possible, and follow all the recommendations.

But it also doesn't do any good to panic, or sow the seeds of panic.
Headlines like "Death Processing Factories" sow the seeds of panic.

There is a very tangible difference between New York City, with a reported population of just under 19 Million and Taylors SC, population just over 21,000.

That doesn't mean self isolation, and embracing as much precaution as possible isn't a good idea. It IS a good idea. I'll repeat that...it IS a good idea.
But I think we need to also pay attention to the actual numbers, the actual challenges of our respective regions.
Oregon, has a website that reports county by county cases, and fatalities. I would imagine similar websites exist for every single state.
I have come to check mine daily. It gives me a good idea of what impact is ACTUALLY happening at the immediate moment in my specific region.
I think this is a better way of obtaining regional information, specific to myself, than painting a picture based on a national media reports. That by definition are "Big Picture" and also do tend to illuminate the worst.

Tuning into the media today, and it's like it always is, they are going to show you the worst of the worst. Which we cannot afford to ignore, but also shouldn't apply it as what is necessarily "our" regional reality.
So anyway, IMO...Yes, if you can, self isolate. do all the precautions. But be aware, the USA is a very large and diverse country. That means there are going to be differences in impact throughout the USA.

Hopefully with self isolation, social distancing and other precautions, the MAJORITY of cities, towns, rural areas, do not reach the same level of challenge as New York City.
I mean we've done what we have done, we are doing what we are doing, to hopefully lessen the impact and minimize the damage. I believe that is the end goal. I'm not defaulting to believing New York City outcome is inevitable "everywhere".

Having recently binge watched "The Walking Dead", and no disrespect meant toward any of this "situation" we're in, I find it hard to believe no one has yet made a modern version of Orson Welle's "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast.

Now, this would be totally fake and would take a bit of production. Think of the Blair Witch Project film, but on a national TV or radio station. It would be in totally bad taste, but think of the panic that would ensue.

Picture a news reporter doing a LIVE broadcast, standing in the street at a hospital with one or more of these trucks behind them with the trailer open. While the reporter is facing the camera and speaking, there's motion in the truck. Then more motion in other trucks. Then a few of the dead start rising and stumbling out of the trailers, stumbling toward the reporter. A few bystanders see it and start screaming and freaking out, Of course this would lead to the camera falling while providing a "portion" of a view of what's going on, until it has a body fall on top of it or near it, blocking the view. And then have the screen go to the colored bars test signal that (long ago) used to come on all channels around midnight.

The panic would be ungodly. I think my wife has been making me watch to many horror movies....

Bellevue Hospital has increased the number of refrigerated trailers to twelve lined up side by side.

Yeah, during the Siege of Leningrad that's exactly what they did, except for breakfast and dinner, too.

No need to be an alarmist. Are you that person in every crowd that just stirs trouble?

My great grandfather immigrated from Lithuania. We still had relatives in Leningrad during World War II. They were completely silent of what they did during that war. Most of them have passed away as of the present.

I believe we call that a "superspreading" event.

At least many of them will know where they got their COVID-19.

Le't s be clear on this. Refrigerated trailers are used for alot more than just dead body storage. Hospitals also use them for holding medical supplies, specimens, and all sorts of critical support that they do not otherwise have room for. Think of the need for quick access to supplies, and your normal Stores are crammed to the ceiling. They are bringing these trailers to help keep Supply close to the where they are needed.

Dead Storage? You think Gotham City doesn't have enough Funeral Homes?

Not panicked. Just prepared. Those who panic will be those who find that they have not prepared enough when their locality reaches a concentration like in New York City.
