It's not just about coronavirus. Millions of people laid off from work, are losing health insurance & will die from issues they would have been able to get treated. Large blocks of destitute people, blacks, Hispanics, Native Tribes, small rural towns, supposed off-grid populations, are stressed & dying right now from emergency situations.
I've watched videos of the worst towns, cities & states to live. Often measured are very high double digit unemployment affecting much of the populations, lack of programs for low & low-middle class people, unresponsible gov't organizations, high drug & crime rates...... These towns & states already are in conditions of The Great Depression. The coronavirus MUST clobber such towns, cites & states, not like we used to understand our country, but even quicker & more savagely.

You should petition for a hall pass to the Political sub-forum.

    personally?

I limit the number of people I give the power to irritate me, but there are some folks who like to engage in a conversation that is not all jazzed up with the usual political drivel that you will find down in the kid's section of the forum.

    --just a suggestion.
I'm a full-throated believer in freedom of speech (as I am all of the other individual freedoms enshrined in our government) BUT(!!) this is a privately owned forum, and the people who run it have their rules.

Having this thread flushed into a septic tank already overflowing with such nonsense will deprive other people the opportunity to rant themselves, as there are only about 6 sad and lonely people who regularly post down there......

Well, today I made my first trip out in 9 days. I needed to ship a package to my wife and gather groceries. I was shocked and saddened to see how many places were still open. It's obvious everyone is using any loophole they can to stay open. I think it's going to be pretty rough here in a couple of weeks.

I'd love to be in business right now myself, but my whole industry has packed it in for the foreseeable future. Now I need everyone else to knock it off so I won't be out of work as long.

Stopped at the local Publix grocery store on my way home from work today to grab some trash bags and hopefully a half gallon of 1% milk so I can have my darn frosted flakes!! I figured I'd wander the aisles in case I saw something we needed for the house. I feel like I found gold...
There were three "16 packs" of Charmin on the shelf . Woo woo!!!!! One pack goes into the shopping cart.
Stroll around the corner to the dairy area and P-POW, a dozen gallons of green cap one percent just sitting there, sweet. No half-gallons, but good enough. One goes in the cart. Then a 30 count box of trash bags. What a great day..

The simple things that make ya happy nowadays....

Actually on the shelf? Wow, the panic buying has really slowed down!

The last I saw (while still traveling, not yet home), they were not bothering to shelve such items, just drop the pallets in the aisles and let the hordes unload it from there. At that time, shelving was just a waste of employee labor.

    Lucky!

Today was a little rough; I had not yet seen my local in stripped status. Not much produce on hand, and not one single product of any kind in the paper aisle. I'm fine for roll but wouldn't mind more handkerchiefs going into the next two weeks locked down.

They had lots of fish and beef on hand but zero chicken parts- plenty of whole birds frozen though. No ketchup- must be lots of kids in town.

It's NOT panic buying, if you logically anticipate what is coming.

To calm the public, the authorities tell you to buy not more than you consume a week.

Yet, they make continual emphasis on the penetration of the virus and the rising percentage of individuals infected.

The prudent individual prepares for the long term and further limits trips to the grocery store as the infestation worsens.

My grocery trip this morning for the 60+ group yielded a 100% completed list. There were a couple of items where I got one of the last one of two or three remaining, but many were well stocked. (y)

Thanks, that photo is going to haunt me for weeks!

    :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

And, I honestly have NOT been buying out stores as we typically keep a month or so supply of food onhand, just because of where we live.:cry::cry::cry:

I guess I'm going to be haunted too. I've been living that photo every work day, as I've seen it for real now 10 days in a row. Unfortunately, we can't hold food for anyone when we're so depleted on staple foods. We did have TP to sell today, as the warehouse made an error and sent us double our allocation, but didn't put it on the shelf as we didn't want a grab match as we opened. They all got sold nevertheless, one package at a time.

A senior college student athlete was complaining about the lack of fresh chicken. There apparently was beef but her comment was “Who eats beef?”

I grabbed the last package of fresh meat from Aldi a few weeks ago.

it was a seasoned butterflied lamb
Made a delicious roast followed by a hearty stew, well worth the $5.99 a pound.

the chicken I have been getting lately has been mediocre, not sure what the deal is but a lot of feather stubs left.
