In the first round of testing, 89 people tested positive. In the second round, the number had dropped to six, who remained in isolation. In this way, we managed to eradicate coronavirus from Vò, achieving a 100% recovery rate for those previously infected while recording no further cases of transmission.​

Now this approach works. First diagnose, use observation, and then apply a fix. Continue observation to verify it works.

I am against 'shotgunning' medicine without a proper A-B-A study. Many medicines work by poisoning the target faster than poisoning the host. Worse, bugs can adapt to become drug resistant.

I have no problem with palliatives. If it makes you feel 'less bad', go for it with eyes wide open. But my experience is when they wear off, there is a bounce that can be worse. For example, cough medicines can have adverse blood pressure effects.

Empiricism first, last, and always. It isn't fast but the answers are true. So this is my daily protocol:

• Wake-up and measure temperature.
• Take morning meds.
• Ordinary chores.
• Random sampling O{2}, pulse, and blood pressure.
• Take evening meds and measure temperature.

Exercising results in deeper breathing, possibly through the mouth, which makes it easier to suck a virus or other pathogen down into the lungs.

It's the travel to the malarial region to results in the deferment, not the medicine.

It shows what to expect in coming days, it looks like US in 10-16 days behind Italy. S Korea handled this epidemic very nicely, Japan and Singapore are in a class of it's own.

There is also a hint that warm countries didn't suffer much, UV rays and temperature obviously kills the virus much faster preventing fast spreading outside, indoors may still be problematic.

I saw it under CDC/FDA recommendations for donations. For the Red Cross, it falls under the general question of travel outside the US and Canada. Seems there is no reliable blood test for malaria.

the irony is that a double dose could be fatal - but the same thing is true if you gorge yourself on WAY too much water ... so the doctors have already had decades of experience dosing - so it makes one wonder how much longer do you need to test something that is obviously safer than that disease, especially re those in their late seventies & beyond.

Don't wish to detract from excellent methods to stay fit, which is a primary method to strengthen your immune system, but Trollbait is correct. Deepest breathing can lodge pollution, bacteria & virus's to the deepest regions of the lungs, which can not be removed, even by the strongest exhalings. It is good that all organized sport is ended. But, please exercise, in good air. I knew a marathoner who ran in the mountains. That action is Good to Go.... without 10,000 other marathoners trailing each other!

COVID-19 musing of the day:

We need to test at massive scales (like everyone) for medical and economic reasons. Talking about adding antibody testing to existing PCR strategy for active infections.

Once you identify immunity, these people can be given paper and digital credentials to go about their business without restrictions. This prevents further spread of infection while minimizing unnecessary economic damage (which will otherwise be huge).

Massive asymptomatic testing also allow us to do a much better job at tracing infections and providing more targeted hotspot control in the future.

That's what is being done out here.

Even if you are in a household with someone who has it.

 

reminds me of 911 and the 2008 housing crash. plenty of warnings, and plenty of people too attached to the status quo

 

I know the housing bust out here was impactful.

Don't remember too much about 9/11 as I was a wee lad at the time in regards to warning signs .

But I'm sure there were things that when reflected upon, could have been done better.

 

some government agency went over the possibility that you could fly a plane into a building. they all looked at each other and said: naaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

 

I deal in "what if" land and preventative measures a lot through out my work days.

The one thing I've learned: never dismiss any idea without understanding the why and how.
