folks I am interested in buying this model of prius made in Japan , its a 2016 model , but I am not sure if the EV battery is Nickel or Lithium , hybrid are mostly imported from Japan in to Pakistan , and looking at data Lithium batteries which are mostly in Gen 2 plug in and prius alpha 7 seater are seen clocking 400 K miles but Nickel ones drying out at 100 K miles ,
So should I be worried about EV battery type , or?

The Japanese variant has no manual , I hope its the same as USA variant .

    regards

NiNH batteries have been around since the start of PRIUS - there was a thread here yesterday where a TAXI and another (from GOOGLE search) had done in excess of 600,000 miles. And they'd have been NiMH batteries. The expectation with a NiMH battery is that it should normally last the life of the car.

nickel doesn't do as well in hot climates it seems. at least, that has been the experience in n/a. most of the high mileage taxi's are in canada.

idk how you can find out. search the net for toyota japanese specs i guess.

do you have access to a good hybrid mechanic?

Except the high mileage TAXI reported in Australia was in Cairns. Stinking hot, humidity extreme.

Check the basic model code, which should be shown on the name label, affixed to the B pillar inside the left front door:

    ZVW50: Ni-MH battery, 2WD
    ZVW51: Li-ion battery, 2WD
    ZVW55: Ni-MH battery, AWD-e

On cars built for sale in Japan, the complete model code, such as DAA-ZVW51-AHXHB, also identifies the grade (trim level).
