As much as I would like to imagine that most folks are as -- well -- with it --as are folks here on PC, I really think that most are not regarding preparing for a crisis.

And, as much as I HAVE NOT hoarded, I am tempted. Not that I want to buy two months of supplies, but...

    I do not know.

    Ahhhhh………..memories....

Really good friend of mine filled (2) 55 gallon drums with cans of ravioli, beefaroni, spaghetti-os, etc in preparation for Y2K.
Needless to say, he was bringing it to work for lunch for quite a while...

And my mother's apartment complex lost power at like 11:59 pm. It was about 5 miles from our house. She called us up, freaking out. Drunk driver took out a power pole nearby. Almost perfect timing...

Water main broke at midnight in a large neighborhood 5 days ago Friday, just as food, water and TP was beyond scarce. People were freaking out like it was the end of the world. Now, if the power went out and water was unavailable at the same time?

LOL!! No power? No water? That's a typical day where I used to live in Honduras. Having a couple hundred power outages a year plus several water outages wears thin after a while.

On another panicdemic angle ... I would not be too astonished if the death toll from this illness isn't more than offset by the reduction I expect in the highway death toll. Coming to work this morning at 6:15 was like being out on a Saturday morning at 6:15. Traffic report had no accidents to report, which is something I don't think has ever happened that time of day here. When they say that about I-4, that's really noteworthy.

I’m wondering also if a mandated dark to dawn curfew in some of America’s concrete jungles will also result in a lower body count at local hospitals.

I’m old enough to remember the first Iraqi invasion.
Dire predictions were made that we would lose many thousands of folks, but the loss rate for US service members actually FELL during that period because conflict in the Gulf resulted in fewer deaths than letting them go home on weekends.

I think this may help lower suicide rate, which I feel may be great numbers.

Anyone experiencing mental health problems should seek help.

I have yet to see help lines announced. I know it may be early., and I myself am not looking.

Oh dearie now. It claims they'll process the order I already put in for their online store, but then that's it.

Anyone else notice how clear the air is lately?

As the sun came up I looked up and saw some contrails from flights passing. This time of year I can't usually see them, too much haze.

they claim there is a measurable difference in co2 levels along with airborne contamination from a few months ago to now.

maybe saving the planet just involves a 1 month break each year

In terms of alcohol every store I’ve been too is fully stocked

Not here. Our air is filled with tree pollen from western cedars and Bradford pears. Trees are white and so is the ground from all the little flower petals falling off. Breathing is optional. ;)

i still partake of those freeze-dried foods. Until they sent me home a few days ago, my breakfast consist of 20 year old oatmeal. I defy anyone to be able to tell the difference in taste /texture /nutritional value .... especially after I jack it up w/ but butter, nutmeg, cinnamon, stevia, & raisins.

Has anyone noticed that along with the lack of TP, there's also a lack of White Castle frozen hamburgers. ;)

Ever since I moved south of I-40.

Oh wait...you said "Frozen" White Castles.

Um....I grew up eating them fresh, and I temporarily suspend my self loathing grumpy-veggie lifestyle whenever I'm within 100 miles of a for-real White Castle restaurant.

I have 2 White Castle mugs in my office.
    I've used WC calendars.

I do NOT eat them frozen for the same reason that I would not give a starving dog a rubber bone. :D
