Not sure if I've ever heard about being able to read already cleared codes, but there was a new "Permanent" Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) that came out around 2010-11, where you cannot clear it without first fixing the issue and performing the follow up drive cycle(s). Most likely to discourage the sort of behavior you're describing above.

I saw somebody asking for a suggestion when they were about to buy a Prius. It was somewhere in this forum. Basically the car was forecasting a terrible problem (either head gasket or the battery). The community suggested them to leave it alone and move on to the next one.

At the rate COVID’s progressing, I think I’m gonna hunker down, which will be aggravating to miss Yet Another Meeting, but I live with an elderly family member with health conditions so want to absolutely minimize risk beyond what will already be necessary. Alas!

My wife had a 90 year old grandmother and we interact with her frequently, so I understand;).

I'll be socially distancing myself for a bit too(y).

    Hello fellow local Prius owners

My combination meter went dark suddenly at first start this morning then restarted at Safeway parking lot . (No luck finding TP)

Is there anyone in the Bay Area that has em? Or do I just buy it at Texas hybrid? Kindly advise..Thank you !

I'd just buy the combo meter from Texas Hybrid Batteries;).

Call them and see why they can do(y).

It might sound silly, but I once experienced this and the cause was as stupid as that little roller on the left of the steering wheel that adjusts the brightness. You sure it's not that one? If it's rolled all the way down, the display will just shut off.

@Triparadox . Yes that’s the first thing I checked but no go unfortunately. My consumption readings didn’t show either .

I wonder if it’s sensitive to cold temps as It’s been working fine all day. Nice and warm in Marin today ..

How about the fuse? I did a very quick Google search, and it could be the fuse is blown(?) I think it's worth checking though because I honestly don't think computer modules are sensitive to cold unless we're talking about -10℃. Screenshot_20200321-193852_Chrome.jpeg

Hi everyone. Hope you’re doing well during these times.

I’m not ready to do a meet but was looking for some advice/recommendations.

just passed 90k and was wondering what maintenance I should do. Below is a list of what I think should be done and any additional items would be great. I’m fairly savvy around cars. If there’s a how to, I can follow if.

    Oil change
    Transmission drain/fill
    Egr clean
    Air filters

I thought I read something about the battery fan (rear seat vent) may need to be cleaned out too?

any tips would be great too or if there’s a thread I may have obliviously missed, let me know.

    Thanks again!

If doing an egr circuit cleanse, I'd add the spark plugs since you are there with the windshield wiper cowling off;).

Is also check your brake pads and slide pins :).

Looks like a good list though(y).

Any recommendations on any good mechanic, whether a real shop or even a forum member? My location is Sacramento (elk Grove) and willing to drive a little for a good mechanic. I'm interested in replacing the CV in my 08 sienna in the next few months. Think that's a job I don't want to tackle

So far I've been able to do everything I've need to do far on my Prius and Sienna easily enough. EGR doesn't even look too difficult.

    Thanks!
