$1 Gasoline???

Close to breaking $1.90.

I already have a sufficient tactical reserve (spring storms) but I'm waiting for the bottom before I amp up my strategic reserve for hurricane season.

 

Once the car is purchased, I run what I brung. The cost of gas is no longer an issue, it's a reality.

I have been paying $2.55 for the last several months in Arizona as I winter over just across the AZ/CA border. Still enjoying the 56 mpg average. Over 100,000 on the vehicle now. Changed the oil over 20 times! Sticking with Chevron with Techron. I am expecting gas to decrease in price as more move to electric and the Wuhan Flu takes over (ITM) and travel tanks.

 

It still is below CDN$1 per liter ...

... in Alberta. Not in Banff or Canmore, but it drops below $1/l to the east by Calgary. We filled up there twice last fall while picking up and dropping off friends at the airport, for a Banff-Jasper tour. Gasbuddy shows even lower prices there today.

 

I just woke up, not drunk nor smoke the funny stuff.
But I do believe in conspiracies .....

With all the stuffy stuff happening, is gas price dropping a result of trying to flush the Tesla toilet ?

I am trying to wrap my head around this gas price dropping.
Is this a last ditch effort to perhaps boost ICE sales during tax refund season, during Wuhan season,
during Tesla growth season as a means to keep peeps in ICE vehicles?

I mean the slower and lower the number that switch to EV now, the more stick with ICE by
the brainwash and big oil and big ICE get to keep moving in their direction.
More and more people are thinking of the switch over to EV but with gas dropping, it is not needed atm.

While I am not not a Tesla fan, I still do like to see them grow, and be the front runners during
this momentum pendulum swing of vehicle transportation.
In my day and age never did I have a desire for an american auto company products, but
Tesla is redefining that vision and results are happening.

I dont think a 1-2% of all sales that are EV can cause a 25% drop in gas price from demand

This just seems all to strange to think another reason

Or just set me straight with the real reason.

 

It is hard to justify driving somewhere if you are also increasing exposure to CORVID-19:

• restaurant workers (no paid sick leave) serving food to earn their rent
• restaurant customers on travel ordering food on the way to their destination

Are you saying the restaurant industry is gonna drop too?

 

Especially those used along highways. As for local restaurants, when CORVID-19 arrives in your town, everyone can use their "lying eyes." Just the fear had wiped out the local Costco, brand name toilet paper, paper towel, and kleenex supplies.

1). Oversupply: Shale oil out of the U.S.A. has been a huge boost to supply. This may start shutting down if prices stay depressed, but right now it isn’t. Canada was also producing a lot, however I’m not certain about the current level of production.

2) Soft demand. Airlines are cutting thousands of flights daily. People are driving less, if at all. This impact has just started.

I don’t believe the low prices has anything to do with the fight against EVs. EVs simply drive better. Quieter, smoother, better performance, convenience for most, and no need to grab a pump handle hundreds of others have if you can charge at home or work.
Fuel could cost the same and EV market share would still grow, just slower.

 

i'm not seeing price drop here in orlando, what are y'all seeing, major drops? yesterday's newspaper said the national average was still $2.47

 

I paid $3.56/gal to refill the rental in Los Angeles on Monday, but I haven't bought any gasoline since I got home.

On the other hand, the oil man refilled our tank on Tuesday for $2.26/gal. Lowest that's been in a while.

 

nice! i hope that happens with my oil. but it always drops at the end of the heating season, plus the mild weather...

 

What is this Crow/Raven-19 stuff you mention? Some sort of new bird flu? With all the news here about Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), I hadn't heard anything about flocking crows being a problem too.

I see slight dropping over a few weeks at the pump prices.
And I do see the crude dropping like a rock

But I am wondering if the winter/summer blend switch over has anything to do with it also

 

Paid $1.989 the other day and expect it to drop further. That is tier one regular BP or MurphyMart.

People traveling less domestically and internationally, thus the glut of oil. There are only so many tankers to store crude in to wait for demand to pick up and prices to rise. OPEC still pumping. Usual disagreement on which country should absorb the necessary cuts in production to keep the prices from dropping.

While we wait for the test kits and as the number reported rise, people's activities reduce to the barest minimum.

Behavior changes. Everyone is wiping down handles of shopping carts. Used to be maybe 5% did that.

People are being cautioned to have several weeks of essentials in stock. Something the poor can not do. We have a freezer. In normal times, not the most eco-friendly thing to have. We cooked last night, did three dinner's worth instead of our normal two. Plans are to do the same tonight.

Chicken noodle soup in short supply. Cheap and can last a reasonable time so can be used after the virus slows its spread.

Don't discount the effects of a pandemic. My grandfather died of the great 1918 flu at a healthy 33.

Antibiotic ingredients are already in short supply, they come from China.

 

Might be a good time to start thinking about shoving some oil into salt caverns.....

I'm re-reading "Pale Rider" which is a politically slanted, but very interesting look at the 1918 flu.
Vast differences between then and now, but it's very interesting how some things remain the same.
Of course.....a rapid demobilization from a World War, general ignorance about viri versus bacteria, and social norms created a "perfect storm" for that bug.
