I'm not sure how to convert the file to mp3 but I'll try! If/when the noise happens again, I'll also video it better for a full scale of the car to show I'm at a complete stop going 0mph with no lights on the dash too.

I was thinking the brakes since my foot is on the brakes at a complete stop, it doesn't make the sound while in park.

Maybe it was just some quirky thing that happened. If it's a real problem, it'll come back. I wouldn't worry about it until it does.

Your video was clear for me. There is some significant issue with your brakes that I would address in the near term if it were my car. I am going to guess that there is an internal leak in your brake hydraulic system that makes it incapable of holding normal pressure in some circumstances.

IIRC, there's a recall that affects the brake system on most 2010 cars (built before May 2010 (?)). I suggest you seek info from Toyota and see if your car is among those affected. You can start here Lookup Safety Recalls & Service Campaigns.

Yes and no, I've been in and out of the shop the last 6 months due to my brakes not acting normal but no one has found any issues so now it becomes aggressive out of the blue then goes away. I got another long drive coming up in a week so I'm a little worried :(

I had the master brake system checked back in Sept but they didn't find any issues. I also call Toyota a couple days ago and they said my car was not a part of the 2010 Toyota brake recall (which I'm not sure how much I trust the dealership to be honest)

Your video should be all the evidence you need to show Toyota that there is indeed a problem.

I have the same issue, check it out in the thread video : Prius brake (squawk/bark/honk/grunt type noise from brake accumulator/booster/actuator) severity | PriusChat

You can see the same type of noises in my prius (2011 model)

    I found 2 things:
    1. Brake accumulator could be going bad (air keeps getting in, system is not able to hold the pressure)
    2. OR there is air in the system that needs to be bled out (if brake booster pump is good, then no new air gets in, otherwise GOTO issue #1)

I have scheduled brake system bleed to see if it would make it go away, if not: I was told that air is somehow getting in the brake system and during purging it makes this noise and the pressure needed is not being retained.

My 2012 Prius C was doing that sound before 4 brakes lights came on, now i don't have regenerative braking. Today i was driving the car normally and the 4 lights turned off, regenerative braking was working again, but after getting home they turned on again. I was going to replace the ABS actuator but i will wait more and see what happens, it could be that since i live in a quite high altitude place, air bubbles are forming in the brake lines causing such noise, though the ABS actuator motor runs constantly so maybe it's going to leave me soon.

My 2013 makes this exact sound. Happens only when fully stopped, even when the ignition is off. I have found various threads regarding this problem and I hope Toyota recognizes there is an issue. Lynde, did you ever resolve your problem?
