Oil Pan replacement

    No not at this point The oil plug is not tightening like it used to with the gasket on

    Sounds like you have a few threads left on that oil pan nut. I think changing the oil pan would be a permanent fix, but I can't say it's easy enough I would try it myself. There are few other quick fixes like oversized drain plug that self thread into existing hole but I have read some mixed reviews on its effectiveness. The helicoil or Time-Sert types of insert are also available, but it is probably about as easy (or hard) as the tap and die fix. I would try what @Mendel Leisk suggested first. It maybe that there are still enough threads, but they are just cross thread so making it not to tighten snug. But if you are going to try that, you would have to drain oil anyway. I would suggest to have the planB (either tap and die with M14 or use helicoil or Time-Sert) ready when you do it.

    Definitly water in that oil!
    And if he had used the CORRECT filter wrench, it would have come off!
    That tool does NOT put the clip out of the way.
    And then only hand tight???? It should be tighter that that!
    LOT'S of goop on that drain pain!

    Kind of a waste since the head gasket is blown....

    Oh c'mon, you're normally a very sensible guy: that clip does squat, lol.

    Notice how he mentions two of the underpanel bolts were rust lumps and he snapped their heads off? It's a very good idea to back out all those small bolts on the underside, put a drop of oil or a swipe of anti-seize on them. Toyota's rust protection on bolts is non-existent.

    Yeah I noticed that: coolant??

    That's because of voluntary RoHS rules that avoid hexa-chromium and cadmium. In older cars, plating containing those metals on bolts made them much more rust resistant. Now, almost all bolts are plated with zinc. When the effect of anodic zinc is gone, the bolts easily rust.

    I painted everything I could reach with boiled linseed oil, and all those little bolts, especially down low, basically drip edges, I oil drench the threads.

    The clip DOES do something on my oil filter housing.
    It snaps in between blanks on the housing and seemly would keep it from
    backing out.
    Without the clip, hand tight would be extremely risky of allowing the housing to back off.

    But, as always, "results may very".

    Coolant/water in oil. It's what causes the milky color when mixed with oil.
