Hi All, I’m kind of new here. I bought my second Prius today, a 2017 4 Touring, after thoroughly getting my monies worth out of my first, a blue 2006 IV with grey interior. The 06 is just worn out and I’m looking for the best (most useful) way to get rid of it short of taking it to the scrap metal recycler. I’m open to and capable of taking it apart piece by piece. I’d love to make something cool out of its parts but don’t have the time. I’m looking for suggestions. Here’s a little description:

Mechanically and externally, it’s rough. It randomly shuts off when going down the road sometimes, sometime won’t turn on or sometime off, has 280,000 something miles (not sure exactly because odo hasn’t worked right in a year), rear hatch smashed but opens and stays dry, hail damage (I can’t see it any more), suspension shot, dash board rarely works, burns a half to a full quart of oil every 1,000ish miles. The upholstery is still pretty good. And when it runs it’s fine, it’s just not predictable.

Thoughts, any body want to make an offer on all of it or parts, anyone want to turn it in to a truck?

Sounds like easy repairs for someone on PriusChat who lives near you... Hope you find somebody to take it on for a fair price.

I’m done with it but I’d love to find someone who wants to put the time and money in to fixing it though. I’d give them a good deal.

By they way, PriusCamper, when it stops raining here I’m going to get some pictures of my camping setup and post to the Camper forum.

Haven't seen @TMR-JWAP on here recently, but he's near where you live and has more experience in these things than almost any of us.

Worn out that fast? My 81 VW rabbit diesel is nearing 300,000 after the first million on he original odometer turned over. Still 46-52mpg - even in North Dakota winters.
The more I read on here the more I am figuring maybe these electronic cars are not what I want. Posts on here paint a very different picture than the dealers do.
