I installed a new HV battery that I got from NewPriusBatteries.com and guess what? All I get is an intermittent buzzing sound in the engine and all kinds of lights in the dash, including the red triangle of death.... :( . I give up. I've attached a picture of the dash.

I installed a new HV battery from NewPriusBatteries.com and guess what???? All is get is an intermittent buzzing sound in the engine compartment.... I also get all kinds of lights including the “triangle of death” in the dash. I give up!!!!! :(. I don’t have a code reader as it’s in my garage. I tried jumping it and that didn’t work. It just sits there and buzzes. Anyone want a good deal on a used Prius in Reno?

Check the safety plug. Make sure it’s in the proper way. Without it you do not have an hv battery.

I don't think you have, but even if you did, it is not really much use. What you need to do is run the codes and post them up here.

But like bisco said, check you installed the orange safety interlock correctly.

    Prius safety Interlock.jpg .

You should be aware that if you disconnected the 12 V battery at any stage, you will need to press the power button with your foot ON the brake twice to get the car to go READY. The first press will be as if it only went to IG-ON.

Let us know how you got on.

What 3 steps? So, obviously, no. I put it in and set it “locked” it. That’s all...

Thanks all for the tips... Tomorrow, I’ll re-check the Orange HV plus and try the steps listed above to start it. I think I can get a code reader from O’Reillys? Or where? To see what the code # is... So I can post those #’s here... I’m a newbie to this and I appreciate everyone’s help.

Its usually the orange switch. Everyone forgets to slide it down.

And many have killed there 12 volt battery leaving the doors open while installing that battery. Check the 12 volt jump point under the hood and see what the battery reads there. Not at the battery in the trunk at the front jump point.

Check the voltage there. Then with car OFF turn on the headlights in high beam and while lights on and car off read that voltage again. That is the true voltage the car is seeing when you hit the ready button. That's what the battery will supply under a very small load.

Also most autoparts store obd readers are not hybrid capable and cannot interrogate the hybrid battery so don't be surprised if they cant harvest the codes.

if the safety switch doesn't help, contact newpriusbatteries before going to more trouble and expense.

Oh yeah. I’m a newbie to this and shouldn’t have done it. The instructions were ok. They don’t have live tech support only email. I got the battery done (after 20 emails) I think correctly or the dash wouldn’t show the charge level on the dash? It has the red triangle of death

I did that and triple checked it. It just lights up and nothing happens. Just the buzzing by the Inverter and all the lights on the dash. Here's a picture.

I've tripled checked the Orange Safety Interlock and it's installed correctly. Here is the picture of the dash. It just buzzes intermitenly (sp) by the inverter box in the engine compartment and doesn't do anything. I've ordered a scanner from Amazon and will download the app when it comes in.
