Hey Gang. Now that I have your attention. I just picked up and installed a battery from a salvage yard that was installed about 2 years ago by the previous owner. I did have to drive 2 hours each way to get the battery but it was well worth it. I've been searching for quite awhile to find a used replaced battery. It was $500.00. Then another drive to return the core and get my core charge back. If you go down this road and I suggest you do make sure they send you a picture of the battery so can see the cover, The replacements have a bunch of stickers on them and the originals don't. Now my battery graph is not going from charged to really low very quickly. I put a photo so you know what to look for. Another yard said they had a recent battery but the picture they sent me showed they were wrong. The old owner told them that to get more money at the yard. They got hosed. I am now a happy more relaxed Prius owner.
Is it the Assembly No G9510-47031 that tells you that? Nothing else in any of the labels is very legible.
I believe it's the serial number, H117UAL5003A. (Or is it H717... that would make more sense, I guess)
Core charge was 250. If it was 100 I would have kept it to tear it apart. So bottom line was 546ish. Sales tax on the 500. Sucked driving 4 hours twice but I'm retired and my brother went with me. We bickered the whole time. Kept us amused. About 3 hours in 21 degree temps to install. Well worth it. Now I still worry the brake system will fail at some point.
For case cover serial numbers... H117U H=Prius 11=day of month 7=July U=2017 For individual modules, the U would be 2019, so most likely the module serial numbers are May or June of 2017 so they would have an S code
can you point me to how to read the serial number? I’m trying to determine the year of manufacturer for serial #2345K14711008c150437
It looks like the serial coding has changed. The s/n used to be 12 chars long, but this one is 20 char long. Maybe @TMR-JWAP, @strawbrad or @JC91006 who do a lot with batteries have seen this format before and know how to decode them.
