we only know what is reported here. there is no data regarding percentage or quantity of vehicles affected.

this is where you come when your egr is clogged, you have a misfire, your head gasket blew.

very few join here to tell us their egr is clean

I believe for every bad one you hear about here, there are thousands out there that nothing happened to...I see so many for sale with 200k+ miles and report they've pretty much just kept the oil changed, maybe brake pads, and regular scheduled maintenance.

Thanks. The squeaky wheel. Any idea if that is included in a cpo inspection?

Also, what are the symptoms? The misfire or cylinder slap noise like is some others that have valves coked up from the egr return to intake manifold?

There's the inverter failure that all prius gen 3 will eventually die off due to over heating, the TSB doesn't fix it either and the momentary loss of braking when you run over a pot hole and rear end the car in front of you. Some have reported it on here, I'd stay away from gen 3s in this day and age.

Are you buying economically priced batteries? I bought some of those and each button battery last no longer than 3 months. The more expensive ones last up to 2 years, got what i paid for.

Somehow I've experienced the quick switch-to-friction "whoopee!" hundreds of times in my Gen 3, just as I had in my Gen 1 before it, and my mom's Gen 2, but never in a Gen 4 because I haven't driven one, and on none of those occasions have I used it as an excuse to rear end the car in front of me. I suppose the only thing I've lacked has been motive.
