I guess the model I had was really hard to pull left handed. It was very unsafe. I tried!!!

Finally got mine fixed arthroscopic. Three little holes. Good now but I only feel it when starting a chainsaw and it don't feel good at all. I'm afraid of ripping it again. Thanks.

Hmmm... Could be insufficient oil. My father-in-law cut a LOT of wood and he liked to see a little oil coming off while cutting. Might be something stuck in the slot in the bar. If it has a roller nose, maybe something is jammed there and keeping it from rolling freely. Or maybe there's just not enough power? Cutting wood is hard work! :)

Good you got yours fixed arthroscopiclly. In my case, docs say best solution is a reverse shoulder replacement.

Yeah, I was very disappointed with my BEC (Battery Electric Chainsaw). This after using PEC (Plug-in Electric Chainsaw) from the same company, Oregon Tool. On paper, battery chainsaw had better spec than the corded chainsaw. But, in reality, the battery chainsaw would not cut through a 12-inch log without getting stuck. The corded chainsaw struggled a bit but did cut through it.

Thanks alot for chiming in I am very confused about my saw but this sounds like what I'm seeing. Its ok with little limbs but anything bigger where the whole bar is in the wood it flat out fails. The reviews were very good on Lowes site though so color me very confused. I got a freshly charged 80 volt 6 amp battery in it too. Thank you!

Yeah, that's exactly what happened with mine too. For limbing, it works perfectly, but for larger logs, it just does not have power. This after investing in the largest capacity battery which costed more than the chainsaw tool alone. Fortunately, earlier I bought a battery-operated string trimmer. It works extremely well on most of the weeds I have in my backyard. It is much lighter and easier to operate than my old 2 cycle engine professional-grade Sthil brush cutter. Batteries I bought for the chainsaw is interchangeable with the string trimmer.

    Binding in the kerf...

Two thoughts-- use a felling wedge or instead of a straight kerf cut in a "V" so you are taking a wedge out of the wood. But, the V method wastes wood and takes longer..

I've never used the saws with compression release valves, but have heard they really help in starting. Haven't tried to start our big saw since my accident.

At least, in the case of my battery chainsaw, it was not normal binding of saw caused by the compression. The log I was trying to cut was already a short piece that was set laying along its side on the stump. It had no binding tension. The battery chain saw just did not have the power to cut through the wood deeper than the bar width. After using it for a short time it was very clear that I would not want to use it for felling any size of a tree. Just way underpowered.

Wood and materials science is not my forte -- but are you sure about the tension....seems to me if it had the power to cut into the wood, it should have the power to cut all the way through it, all things being equal?

Maybe the decrease in battery power as you are cutting -- would a fully charged battery get through?

Got me. That's why we have the Stihl 34. Even it will give up sometimes without a wedge

The battery was fully charged. I was comparing side by side with a corded chainsaw and a cordless chainsaw from the same manufacturer. It is possible that a battery does not have a sustainable power output for the duration of the cut, but it is not because of the remaining charge. I have had a very similar experience with a cordless circular saw with an 18V battery. It can cut into the wood or board but before finishing the cut it would stall amid of a cut. This never happens with a corded circular saw.

In my case it seems like it has good power but good point i have the companion kobalt lawnmower which uses the identical battery only much lower current the saw uses a 6 amp battery the lawnmower uses a 2 amp battery but maybe it’s the level of charge. Maybe swapping in a fresh battery..

I was drawn to the 80 volt saw since I already had the 80 volt lawnmower which I love and uses the same battery just lower current that mower is great wife loves it too she uses it more than I do. Great product no gas no oil no pull cord it’s powered amen.

I am open to any and all suggestions and will try that also, Thank you Kris.

I dug around last night and some youtubes where this same model saw tore through some pretty big logs no problem so I bought a new chain on Amazon today. There is a newly designed chain that is better and they say sharper so eager to see if it improves my issue.

It has to be the chain but can't remember hitting the dirt with it.

Next I need to learn how to sharpen the blade.

Thanks very much to all for your help.

How does that work? Keep the shoulder and replace the Merkey? That really doesn't sound good.

(I looked it up but couldn't resist making the joke. Still sounds serious.)

They replace the ball and socket with metal but reverse their natural positions.

i had 3 1/2 out of 4 rotator cuff muscles and bicep tendon torn off the bone and surgically repaired. my doc told me a reverse shoulder is less painful, and shorter recovery time.

    Wow Bisco.

I think I tore my bicep tendon also because now my Bicep has a indentation in it and it’s higher.
But good surgeon I have not destroyed it yet and it never bothers me for the most part
Until I pull a chainsaw cord. That fast power pull really makes my shoulder bark.

    Thanks to all again,

My docs told me the same.
