No wiper fluid indicator?

In my v5, I didn't realize that if my headlights are on, and then use the washer fluid, the headlight washers come on too. Between using the washer fluid for the windshield, headlights, and the rear window wiper, I've been going thru a lot fluid lately. Thankfully the holding tank holds an entire gallon container of fluid!

 

it would be really helpful for someone to list a how-to, and where-to, for things to check that aren't showing on the dashboard,

 

Just check your fluids under the hood. Do you need to know where the oil dipstick, washer fluid container, and other various fluids are located?

It would take less time to read the manual than to wait for someone to take the time and detail the steps for you. It's not that hard and most everything under the hood is convenient and should only take you a few minutes.

 

In all fairness Toyota's Prius oil change interval is once every 10,000 miles so it would actually make sense to have a low level washer indicator. This is a car that can show you an animation of how it's working in real time so it's not that much of a stretch for one extra warning light, one that could greatly increase safety given some of the scenarios mentioned in this thread.

 

i hope you're checking your oil more than every 10k...

 

The "Check all fluid levels" interval is just 5,000 miles:


.. and even this is far too long to be checking engine oil level.

Doesn't this washer fluid tank hold something around a gallon? This is much more than I ever use between oil level checks. Even on my longest Western States ski tour vacations, when I've purchased or taken along a spare gallon of washer fluid 'just in case', I've never been able to get close to emptying the jug before getting home.

 

I'ii be happy with a water temp. gauge??
