I have 08 prius, smart key fob (silver log).

I am able to lock and unlock doors with remote but smart entry functionality stopped working all of a sudden.

Now, my car requiring me to insert fob in car to start.

What has triggered this to stop functioning like this?

Battery is not more than 6 months old. But I can replace it.

lock/unlock button would still work with low battery?

Could always try a new FOB housing for $10 on ebay.

Be sure and transfer all of the important bits before tossing out the old housing.

From your replies, one would assume that you haven't accidentally hit the SKS button under the steering wheel with your knee.

    Go with SFO........
Definitely sounds like the KEY button on the dash under the steering wheel.

Same thing happened to me and others thoughout the forum. this had happened randomly all to many people. so far there has been no fix.

I've done a bit of research and haven't gotten anywhere with it.

if you have techstream, you may be able to re register your keys.

if you have to re seed your immobilizer ecu, you might be able to re use the current seed within it already.

i can send you some url'd toother forums that i read - maybe your Google-fu is better than mine. you might find some things that I've missed.

these are very technical so let me know if you want them

    Thanks for all the help.
