I live in the Midwest and ordered a 2020 Prime Limited in early September. As of early December my dealer can't give me an idea about when to expect delivery. I'm wondering how long it has taken some of you in the 'fly-over' part of the country to get your vehicle
In August of 2018 I took delivery of my Prime Advanced. My first one took 30 days but was damaged during unloading. A replacement order was placed and it took 30 days also. In each case my dealer located the car enroute from Japan. The dealer has access to an internal web site that gives timely updates as the car moves through the shipping process.
My dealer warned me that if it had to come from Japan, it would take over 5 months. But he used Toyota's internal web site to find one that met my requirements. It was allocated to another dealer in the region, but they did some negotiating and it only took a couple of weeks. This happened about two months ago. I live just north of North Dakota.
I guest my coastal bias is showing. I live in Boston and spent a month or so researching and when I decided to pull the trigger I went to two dealerships who had the exact same Prime I was looking for on the lot. I was calling one for their best deal while sitting in the office of the other. Spoke to the first guy on Saturday afternoon and was driving home in my new Prime from the other dealer on Sunday evening. Granted, I took one in some variety of silver color, not one of the apparently very rare non-silver paint jobs. I feel for the folks that are in the "we have to order it" limbo. In this modern information age, it may cost a few bucks more, but it should just be a matter of your dealer checking an electronic inventory of other dealers, working out a price with the other dealer, and getting it shipped to you within a week or so. Best of luck.
