Hello PriusChat, I have a 2005 Toyota Prius Base, where it doesn't have navigation, backup camera or the buttons to lock your car from the outside on the door handle. It also doesn't have the feature where you don't have to put the key fob into the slot to start the car. One thing is that I would like to install the feature of keyless ignition, but is that possible? I don't know where to buy the part for the Prius and also don't know if I need the special door handles to lock the car from the outside. I just want to install this keyless ignition because just for the heck of it. Any help/advice?
Your car is 15 years old and presumably has a LOT of miles on it. I think the best, and maybe only practical, way to get keyless ignition is to trade it in for a newer model. The conversion probably won't be easy or cheap. And the odds of screwing something up are high, in my opinion.
let's say that it is almost impossible, so likely not worthwhile. only a couple of people have succesfully added 3 door sks to single door oem. adding sks to a non sks model would be a super herculean feat
I saw the computer harness and needed stuff for sale on autobeyours.com when I was scoping things out the other day. Perhaps that's a good place to start. They were difficult to navigate, and most pictures aren't working...
