I own a 2012 PIP Prius that I bought (not cheap) and the ready light is not always coming on. Its around 112K miles. Does this vehicle have a 12 v battery? Is it the electric battery that could be causing this?

You're not giving us much information, but the first thing I'd check knowing just that one fact would be the 12V battery.

make sure the brake lights are coming on when you step on the brake. and don't punch the start button, press it slowly.

So after looking under the hood I have a battery location sticker. It says that the PIP has a lithium-ion battery (traction battery) and a Lead Acid Battery (Auxillary Battery for accessories, lights, etc). See attached Picture.
Im guessing that the Auxillary Battery is what turns on the ready light. At times when it does not go to ready the lights are very dim. Is this then just like any regular battery?

yes, the same as any car. but it doesn't have to power a starter motor to turn over the engine, so it is very small. you can test it, charge it or just buy a new one, but i can't say it is the for sure problem.

i replaced mine this summer after 7 1/2 years, but it was very obvious, as the car was as dead as a doornail. if yours is original, just replace it. if you don't know, there is a date code on top.

the battery is located under the right rear hatch floor triangle. i got mine at toyota for $200. but there are cheaper alternatives at auto parts stores or batteries plus bulbs stores.

Thank you. Four. The battery. It’s the original one since 2012 so that was pretty good. I’m going to have my husband check it. I e serviced the car at a dealer since day one and it’s never came up as low so that’s interesting. Anyways thank you everyone I will post here if that’s not the problem but I suspect that it is. I’ve got 122k miles and love that car
If anyone wants to know, I asked the dealer what the price for a new electric battery was and they quoted 4500. When I first got the car I was told it was 10k. So it’s go e down dramatically.

    cheers!
